"With great power comes great responsibility." Those were the last words Peter Parker's uncle said to him before he was killed, triggering Parker's service as Spiderman.
Many of us have been touched by the greatest power of all - the power of light and love. And we have tried to bring it to bear in our affairs. This effort is through service -- of our God, of our fellow beings, and of the voice that whispers to us inside.
Sometimes our service has been open and obvious to all; at other times it has been through small acts of loving kindness when opportunities arise. Often it has put us in situations that have led to our detriment -- financial struggles, illness and injury, or maybe even the breakup of families.
The road of service is not always paved with gold. While some are called to serve in ways that allow them to receive significant value in exchange, most are called to toil in areas where there is little reward or visible benefit. And while they still keep giving of themselves, often it makes them feel like they are caught between their own needs and God's will.
After all, we servers have needs, too. Who will care for us, while we give so much to everyone else? Even knowing God supports us in every way doesn't make it any easier when creditors come calling.
Most of you on this list have been in that situation at one time or another. You may even be in it now. Yet I know you still try to approach things with love in your heart and concern for others, even when you can see no way out of your struggle. I know also how hard it is for you, and appreciate your effort to carry on even while torn by your own needs.
Responsibility to do our part may come with our power. But it is hard to exercise it when life keeps hitting us between the eyes.
Yet now you are being called once again to serve. This service, however, is not just to show them what is possible when people come together.
This is why you are being invited to explore issues of community. Not to build my business or anyone else's, but to allow you to be loved and nurtured and supported by your fellow servers. Maybe not financially at first, but at least by banding together you can gain strength and hope from each other sufficient to carry on.
Eventually as our numbers increase and communities link up around the country, a new economy will begin to form. One where we consciously go about supporting each other in recognition that only together can we survive the transition to the New World.
For now those opportunities may be limited, and this is not to suggest your communities should simply become networking groups to increase your personal business. While some may choose to do that, hopefully none of us will participate simply to fulfill a desire for personal gain.
Nevertheless, that should not stop us from coming together to explore our differences and how we can overcome them. After all, if you -- the awakening server who has been touched by God's hand -- cannot connect with others who share your same struggle to make a difference in this world, then what hope is there for the rest who will someday follow?
We are being asked to show the way, to use our love and light to lay a foundation of cooperative interaction so that others may build upon it. It starts simply by coming together in whatever ways we can.
This is not an easy path to take. Many of you are bogged down with just trying to survive, and maybe eke out a simple existence for yourself while you do. Even thinking about doing anything else might be a burden.
It is therefore with a heavy heart that I ask you to do more, for you have done so much already.
But we are the vanguard of the lightworkers and servers who will lead humanity into a better tomorrow. It is our destiny, a task to which we agreed long before we came into this life.
You don't need to me to tell you this, or nag you into participating. You know it in your heart.
Whatever your perspective or manner of service, I invite you to take the next step toward anchoring that world into reality. No, I plead with you to take it.
For you, and others like you around the globe, are our only hope.
If you decide to accept this challenge, please reply and let us know. And forward this email to any of your friends you think perhaps might also be called to serve. For we need them, too.
I love you, my friend. But I cannot do it alone. I am
john
