1877: the execution of John D. Lee at Mountain Meadows, Utah, for his role in the massacre almost twenty years earlier.

1888: in a Quorum of the Twelve meeting, Apostle Erastus Snow says that apostles Wilford Woodruff and George Q. Cannon are "men worshippers [and] sycophants." Woodruff replies, "While Brother Cannon is charged with Nepotism, you go to St. George and the offices in that region are nearly all filled by his [Erastus Snow's] boys."

1977: Jerusalem's mayor Teddy Kollek writes to the president of the LDS branch there: "We are indeed happy with the great interest shown by the Mormons to build a permanent structure in Jerusalem to house center for their activities in the city." This is the result of BYU's study abroad program in Jerusalem. Israel's government officially recognizes the LDS church as a legal association in April. Kollek receives and honorary doctorate from BYU in 1995.
