1852: (6-8) at conference in England, Apostle Franklin D. Richards calls men to new office of “pastor.” Office continues until 1860, when it is changed to “district president.”

1873: Brigham Young resigns as Trustee-in-Trust, and conference sustains his first counselor George A. Smith to that position with twelve "assistants." Apostle Albert Carrington is assistant counselor in the Presidency and is the first college graduate to serve.

1887: general conference sustains the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as "prophets, seers & revelators," which titles were "omitted by mistake [for] several conferences past."

1995: Gordon B. Hinckley dedicates "Tuacahn," an outdoor amphitheater seating 2,000 near St. George, Utah, for performances "featuring Mormon themes and values." It hosts the Mormon Arts Festival in May 1996.
