Dear Group,

I saw your FaceBook and put together an informal note to which Kelly Gossett responded today.

I am retired and enjoy helping where I can in presenting science and education programs using a collection of reptiles.

I am permitted by Game and Fish with gila monster, grey banded kingsnake and mexican beaded lizard. I am a member of the NM Herpetological Society and have been with them at several events throughout the state.

I have visited Oliver Lee State Park, Wildlife West, Bosque del Apache "Festival of the Cranes," and many other venues in New Mexico and also Idaho and would be happy to bring the "Zoo Crew" to give kids of all ages a chance to see, handle (if they choose) and understand non-venomous snakes; as well as see up close and learn about the most fabled lizard in America ...the gila monster.  Gila monsters and beaded lizards have been around for a long time with fossils records found near T-rex fossils.  So I bring some fossils and a T-Rex head mount of occasion.

As some of you may be aware proteins from the venoms of the gila monster and beaded lizard have been found effective in treating diabetes type II.  Current trials are underway for lung cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, HIV/AIDS and Parkinson's.  ***No animals are hurt in venom extraction.  Thus, I can provide people direct contact to Byetta© the Diabetes drug and encourage youth in thinking about careers in conservation, research, medicine, zoology, etc.

Here is my site: www.zoocrewkids.blogspot.com and I'm also on FB as The Zoo Crew Kids Educational Outreach Project

kindest regards,

Jerry Tuttle
