Dear Folk Dancers,

Two special Mideast Balkan events are upcoming including tomorrow’s concert (which was not cancelled, as mistakenly announced):

A THUNDERING RESONANCE OF THRACIAN MOUNTAIN MELODIES

EVET (
Turkish for “YES”) is delighted to announce a very special upcoming concert at the San Miguel Mission on Friday, December 1st at 7:30PM. Performing the captivating and incredibly diverse instrumental and vocal music of Southeastern Europe and Anatolia, EVET invites our audience on an epic journey, traversing the rugged musical landscapes of Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Turkey and Armenia.

The members of EVET represent decades of dedication to the rich and infectious music of the Balkans and Middle East, playing both traditional and contemporary instruments: Paul Brown on oud and bass, Polly Tapia Ferber on darbuka, daire, and tupan, Nicholas Kunz on baglama, cura, tambura, and percussion, Willa Roberts on vocals and violin, Char Rothschild on saz, gaida, ney and accordion, and Melinda Russial on clarinet, bass clarinet and duduk.

The San Miguel Mission, also known as San Miguel Chapel, is the oldest church in the continental United States, and is one of Santa Fe’s centers for acoustic concerts. We relish the opportunity to share our music with you in such a historically rich and acoustically gorgeous space! Please see below for details.
