1. Comment “the solution lies in revealing to this generation of young people who Christ is and leading them to properly respond to him”

In the story of the woman at the well, the woman waited at the sixth hour to go and draw water at Jacob’s well in Samaria.  When Jesus asked the woman for water to drink, she questioned Jesus, “How is it that You, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews have no dealings with Samaritans?”  Jesus explained to the woman that whosoever drinks of the water that He gave shall never thirst.”  The woman gained a greater understanding of Jesus and said “Sir, give me this water”.  Jesus further revealed to the woman about who He is.  A greater understanding of Jesus allows the woman to call onto others to “Come, see a Man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not the Christ?  In this story, Jesus went to being a Jews, to Sir then Christ to the woman.

In order for the young people to respond to Christ, we need to teach them who Christ is.  Christ the center of it all.  If we don’t focus our messages on Christ, we will lose them.  We have to teach Christ in a relational manner “If we can reintroduce Christ to our young people regarding who He is, what He has done for us, how much He loves us, and how He yearns to restore all things to His original design, we won’t have to cajole them back to respond to Him.  There will be no holding them back”.  Christ desires a relationship with the young people.  “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved”.  Jesus is for them, not against them.  God doesn’t take pleasure in our shortcomings or in our failures.  God want us to reach the finish line. God didn’t create hell for humans, but for Satan and his angels. II Peter 2 v. 9; The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to Repentance.

Finally, in other to see a change in this youth, they will need an encounter with God.  We should be intentional about our meeting times and our conversations with the young people.  In Genesis 22, after Abraham’s encounter with God in Moriah, God become his Jehovah Jireh. Paul had an encounter with God on the road of Damascus; God transforms his life; he later wrote most of the New Testament.

2. Do you agree with the Three True Foundations of the Faith?

I agree with the three true foundations of the faith.

1.      The God of Redemption who gave His very life.

2.      The God of relationship who gave His Spirit and the Word

3.      The God of Restoration who Us His Body (the church)

Jesus left His throne in Heaven and came to die in our places.  He took a death that He didn’t deserve.  Understanding this foundation, we see that God loves us.  Only His love for us could hold Him on the cross.  “Uncovering the deep meaning of God’s redemptive heart will open our young people’s hearts and minds to a whole new understanding of who God truly is?

God is relational God.  God sees the importance of relationship.  During creation, in Gen. 2 v. 18; And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him”.  After Adam and Eve sinned, they went to hide.  God looked for them, “Where are you”, Gen. 2 v. 9.  Since the Fall of man, God has been trying to reconcile a relationship with us; the purpose of Jesus death “And all things are of God, Who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the Ministry of Reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the Word of Reconciliation, II Cor. 5 v. 18 – 19.  We need to ingrain to the young people that God desire a relationship and to commune with them.  “When our young people understand that God wants to live within them, thus developing an intimate and growing relationship, we can lead them to a proper response.”

1.How effective have you been as a disciple maker?

According to the reading, my understanding of discipleship is making a difference, representing God and serving others and also reproducing ourself in Christ just to name a few. I have a lot of work to do, however I would say I've done and am doing pretty well. One of the things that I know has helped me is the fact that I love to serve. Doing this has taught the young women that I mentor that serving is the heart beat of God. Even when we don't feel like it, that's when we should do it most, understanding that our service to God and others has nothing to do with how we feel. Does  my life represent God? I strive everyday to ensure that when people look at me, they see Christ.. By my temperament, my patience, my love and grace, a smile goes a very long way.. When talking with people that God allows to cross my path, I focus on the relationship and often times I ask God why is this person in my life? I believe being and staying prayerful is key to discipleship. We have to walk in the spirit of God when disciplining others. We can't live a life like Christ by pleasing our flesh, we have to be different. Being Christ like is key for me. I say this because the way I respond to things and people could effect how someone perceives and or receives Christ, so when the trial come, I have to be cognoscent of how I respond to the trial. How can I help someone if I'm not following the commandments of God myself? I can't, it's that simple. Disciplining others is not an all together easy task but it's worth continuing to help, serve and build up the people that God has placed in my life for his glory. As I said, I have work to do but  I praise God for what he has allowed me to so thus far..

2.     What type of process will facilitate where we are trying to go and what we are trying to achieve?
- passion, If we don't have a passion for Gods people or to see his people be healed and walking in his promises, them we don't have the heart of God. We need the same passion if not more than Jesus had in order to fulfill Gods plan in the earth.
- maturity in the fundamentals of ministry- understanding the fundamentals of ministry is key to understanding the purpose of the church. The church is us, so we need to understand why we're here and how is God going to use us.
- a biblical worldview- we must study the word and keep ourself in the present of God our father. The more we stay in his presence, the more we can be like him.
- standards and accountability that foster spiritual growth- we need to take accountability of who and what we are and give our weaknesses to God. If we try to act like everything is fine when all he'll is breaking loose, we are fooling ourselves. We need to acknowledge what's going on, give it to The Lord and let him deal with it. As long as we carry things around with us, it hurts our progress of deliverance. We need to be responsible and hold ourselves accountable to the word and life of God.

1: In your own words describe why it is significant that God created us "in His image ." How should this affect the way we view ourselves and the people around us.

We are the representatives of God on earth. We wear His badge ,His stamp, His likeness. But is this spiritual or physical , I believe God has created us in the spirit and flesh, and that spirit dwells in us as the Holy Spirit, as God on earth. Everyone differs in physical resemblance so I'm thinking if God created me in His likeness then who's likeness is my wife. How many likeness would God have. One thing for sure is that the spirit that agrees that Jesus is Lord is the same with her as it is with me. I do believe the likeness that is God would be that of the Holy Spirit, because the vessels are different.
If we see each other as spiritual beings living in a physical body then we would see that we do not differ at all. If you never see each other as black , white , brown , woman or man but as the Holy Spirit we would love more , judge less , hate less and accept more.

2: What does God's covenant with Abraham reveal about God's plan of redemption?

God saw a revolving door as it concerned to sin and redemption. God is a merciful , loving , and gracious God. He placed in motion a plan to save mankind from them self. God saw man as unable to live right by a Him and made plans that were set in motion to play out in the life ,death , and resurrection of Christ. But before this could be set in motion God had to have a chosen people to bring forth God in the form of man as seen in flesh.  God plans were set to begin with Abraham , but to play out with God been born in the flesh ,to make Himself a sacrifice , to die on the cross , to crush the head of the serpent and fulfill what was said in the Garden  of Eden.

3: How does God's provision of the Passover Lamb for the Israelite's help  us understand Jesus sacrifice for us.

The lambs blood on the door post would have been seen as a stretch because the people cared for their lamb and would have killed only for food, but was willing to give up a lamb Instead of a son, and just as Jesus was loved and cared for by many. But just as the lambs blood was required for the life of the family living in the household so was the blood of Christ was needed for mankind safety. God had to come in flesh taken as a lamb to the slaughter because His blood was needed for the salvation of men.

"I strive everyday to ensure that when people look at me, they see Christ"  We are the 1st impression of Jesus Christ on earth; we are His ambassadors.  Based on the images we reflect (positive or negative), they based Christianity and Christ on that.  Like you, I am a work in progress.  A thing that I try to vigilantly not do especially around unbelievers is complaining.  As Christians, we must always have a positive outlook on life.

  1. What type of process will facilitate where we are trying to go and what we are trying to achieve?

1. I feel that as a growing believer I am learning to be a better disciple maker. I have always had compassion and a heart for helping others this is something that always been in me. I love meeting and speaking with people that I meet while witnessing and I get such a joy out of it. The people that I meet I try to build a relationship with them not only in church but outside of church. We pray together, call each other, worship together, break bread together and have fellowship were family.

2.We must be committed to doing Gods work and stay on fire for Him. And also stay in prayer and continue to be transformed to becoming more like Christ. Keep our eyes steadfast on Him and let God have His way in our lives so that we could go out into this dark dying world and be the disciples’ fishers of men. Each of us have a gift that God has giving us we must develop that gift so God can get the Glory from it.

The last Christian generation pages 67-85

1. Comment “the solution lies in revealing to this generation of young
people who Christ is and leading them to properly respond to him”

Revealing to this generation of young people who Christ is a challenge, and it is one parents and youth leaders/workers must face with boldness and with the help of the Holy Spirit who is with us to lead us and guide us into all truths. They must be reintroduced to the person of Christ on a daily basis. It is certainly true that although most of them believe they are Christians because they have been brought up into a Christian home but they have not been transformed by the truth which leaves them to form their own opinion on who they think he is. This is not something we can do on our own by flesh and blood, but by the Holy Spirit who is able to convict them of who the Truth really is and to lead them to properly respond to Him by faith. Christ is the author and the finisher of our faith. "He is the image of the Invisible God, the firstborn over creation. For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church: He is the beginning and the firstborn among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in Him, and through him to reconciled to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross". Colossians 1:15-20. These verses really portrayed who Christ is and there is no one who can compare to Him. He is Lord of all and the only way to life eternal. Therefore, because He is life, their lifestyles would be different, their speech would be different, their testimony would be different and the evidence would show. When Jesus revealed himself to Saul on the road to Damascus everything changed about him. (Acts 9) His name was changed, his mission realized. His message was now about Christ. This furthermore confirms to me that when the revelation of Christ is realized in them there must be a change which leads them to respond differently to the message of Christ.

2. Do you agree with the Three True Foundations of the Faith?

Yes, I do agree with the Three True Foundations of the Faith which are: (1) The God of redemption who gave his very life. I agree that if they understand the price that was paid in the redemptive process to save us from our sins before the foundation of the world then they would not take it so lightly. In teaching them in dept is one thing but getting a revelation from God is another, Making a spiritual connection whit what is being though is also another thing but all can be accomplish with prayer and fasting. To know that God loves them unconditionally even though they have repeatedly sinned against him should encourage them to want to respond to this kind of love by giving themselves to him totally. When you love someone it behooves you to want to spend time with that person. So out of love comes a time of devotion and concrete faith. (2) The God of relationships who gave his Spirit and the word. Out of the understanding that Christ died for us come a need that should only lead us to a closer walk with him. In order to do that a relationship must be developed. A personal relationship with anyone takes time, so therefore there should be some evidence that a relationship is being developed and the desire to know Christ intimately should grow as well.  (3) The God of restoration who gave us his body. I believe teaching the young generation the biblical truths mentioned with speech they understand will dispel all myths and distorted views that they hold and that they will be set free to believe and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ which is spirit and life. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17.

Tanash,

I agree that it is very important for us to introduce Christ to our children as well as show them how to have a relationship with God for themselves vs. thinking that they have a relationship with him because they were brought up in a Christian home and or brought up in the church. I think too often, parents think because they take their children to church every Sunday, they're saved. I personally led my daughter to Christ at the age of 13 by taking her to the word and reading the word with her and asking her questions of her understanding of this word. Even after that, I thought OK great, she's good. at the age of 15 my daughter came to me during a Sunday morning worship experience while taking communion and said "mommy, I need a do over". can you come with me to the alter? I gladly went and understood that if I had not taught her what I did growing up and at the age of 13, would she have recognize that what she needed a do over.  I think parents need to take the word of God literal as it pertains to raising a child up in the way they should go, so when they grow old they will not depart from it. Just taking our children to church is not all we need to do as parents..  Great post!
