1. Discuss how the four steps involved in study affect or relate to your personal approach to study.

2. What do you think of the statement on page 71, “what should you study? That depends on what you need.”

3. Share a testimony of a spiritual insight the Holy Spirit impart to you while studying the word of God.

I look forward to reading your post, remember to comment on the post of a fellow student.

Dear All,

Please see my response below.

1. Discuss how the four steps involved in study affect or relate to your personal approach to study.

Studying can renew our minds. The four steps involved in study are repetition, concentration, comprehension, and reflection, which are the key feature of studying, , however it does not always come in that order. Generally if I would read something once and concentrate on what I am reading, I do not need to necessarily repeat it. If it is an unfamiliar subject matter, I will have to read it a couple of times to grasp it. Also if our mind is disturbed then repetition may not work in the study. If Repetition and concentration works well then we will be going into the next step – comprehension, means grasping the matter into our mind, this will help us to goto the next step that “Reflection”. Fourth step is very important because what ever we learned should reflect in or life.

2. What do you think of the statement on page 71, “what should you study? That depends on what you need.”

I agree with the statements. What should you study? The answer will be depends on our need. But I am not fully agreeing the later statement that we should read full book, sometimes it works, because we will get the background behind each sentences/words in that book, but sometimes we may not need to read the entire book.

Thank You

With Prayers and Blessings

Anish

Hello everyone,

1. Discuss how the four steps involved in study affect or relate to your personal approach to study.

-As we've all read the four steps involved in study are repetition, concentration comprehension and reflection. Personally I do all four when I study but the One I find most difficult to do is concentration. The author touched on this point in the chapter. Often when reading my word I find it difficult to find a quiet space. Especially with three young children running around and my own thoughts/to do list running through my mind. But that is no excuse. I realize that when I do concentrate on what I'm reading it allows the words to not only penetrate my mind but also my heart. So I will make sure going forward to allow myself to be at a place physically, mentally and spiritually ready to receive EVERYTHING that I'm studying. Especially when it comes to God's word.

2. What do you think of the statement on page 71, “what should you study? That depends on what you need.”

I agree with the part that states, "we should read large portions of scripture", preferably a whole book of the bible. Sometimes in searching for "what we need" we look for a certain scripture. But in not reading that book (bible book) we may lose what God is saying in its entirety. We wouldn't listen to the first line of a song and then say I know what the whole song is about. You may have an idea but you wouldn't fully understand the heart of the lyric until it's heard in its entirety. But one thing I do love about reading the bible and different books about growing in Christianity is you'll always find what you need but also leave with knowing a lot more about God and how he works.

3. Share a testimony of a spiritual insight the Holy Spirit impart to you while studying the word of God.

When I was going through a trial in my life a couple of years ago I was really searching for answers. As I sat there praying, I heard "Open my word". So I just randomly opened my bible and it landed on Romans 8:1 "There is therefor now no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus" It spoke to me as a person and I felt it was Gods way of telling me that the fight is not over! I haven't left you and I will always be here. I could write a full page but I'll leave it right there. :-)

God bless,
Have a great week everyone!

Bro Aaron

Amen!!!  Command and teach these things. 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
