The Bhagavad Gita was spoken over 5000 years ago by Lord Sri Krishna to Arjuna. The Bhagavad Gita is not a Hindu scripture but rather a sacred text which is for the benefit for all living beings. Just as the light of the Sun illuminates the world without discrimination, so too, the light of the Bhagavad Gita illuminates the lives of all those who reads, studies & hears this eternal conversation.
December 10, 2016, marks the day that the Bjhagavad Gita was spoken(Gita Jayanthi). On this day, the Hare Krishna temple in Phoenix will be hosting a Bhagavad Gita Maha Yajna, an elaborate Hawan for the pleasure of the Supreme Lord. All 700 verses of the Bhagavad Gita will each be chanted, followed by offerings of ghee and other sacred items into the Hawan for the Lord’s pleasure.
We take great pleasure in seeking your participation in this purifying sacrifice of love to the Lord for every person within your family, we request that you sponsor one verse at the cost of R108 and a Bhagavad Gita – R60. This is a great offering to perform in memory of loved ones. A verse will be chanted on behalf of the individual during the hawan and a Bhagavad Gita will also be donated on your behalf to those who cannot afford to purchase one. In this was you will be contributing greatly and simultaneously please the Lord.

2016 Prabhupada Book Marathon

have now begun the 2016 Prabhupada Book Marathon in Kwazulu Natal.
I sincerely encourage all the devotees whether they are my disciples or not, to
enthusiastically engage in this most important service of distributing Srila
Prabhupada’s books.
Srila Prabhupada would be very pleased by your efforts. Even if you are only
able to distribute a few books, you should understand that it is your attempt
that pleases your diksa and siksa gurus, Srila Prabhupada and Lord Caitanya and
not the quantity of books that you give out. Even if you don’t give out any
books but make the endeavor to go out then that is pleasing to the Lord.
I am looking forward to the results of this book marathon, but more eager, to
see all the devotees who participated in which ever way.
