Maharajs Bio:
Bhakti Brhat Bhagavata Swami, a former educationist, joined ISKCON in Durban, South Africa in 1983. From 1985 to 1988, he distributed over 30 000 books (mainly "Science of Self Realizations" and "Bhagavad Gitas") and has preached extensively to high school and university students. He placed full sets of Srila Prabhupada's books in over 50 libraries, colleges and universities in South Africa. During this time he also served as the sankirtana leader. Till 1992 he served as the Vice-President of ISKCON Durban. From 1997 to 2000 he served as President of ISKCON Durban. From 2001 to 2004 he accepted the responsibility of Co-President of Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Mandir, ISKCON Vrndavana. From 2004 to 2006 he served as Regional Secretary for Gauteng in South Africa.


In 1991, Bhakti Brhat Bhagavata Swami founded the Bhaktivedanta College of Education and Culture(BCEC) in South Africa. BCEC offers bridging courses like Japa-Asraya course, Bhakti-Sadacara Course, 'Yoga Ladders' Course leading up to Bhakti-Sastri Degree, Bhakti-Vaibhava Degree and Bhaktivedanta Degree. BCEC also works in collaboration with Mayapur Institute.


Bhakti Brhat Bhagavata Swami presently travels internationally - preaching and teaching Krishna consciousness in ISKCON centers, yoga centers, schools, colleges and universities. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Mayapur University Executive Board, which is working towards establishing an International University in Mayapur, ISKCON's World Headquarters.
