Dear Friend of the Farmington Canal Greenway,

We wanted to wish you a happy early autumn (our favorite season for riding on the Trail!) and provide you with a few important updates:

* CT Trails Symposium, Friday, October 4, Manchester Community College

This annual Symposium sponsored by the CT Greenways Council will provide tools, tips and examples to help plan for, design, build and maintain various types of trails in CT. We will be tabling at the Symposium alongside our colleagues from the Farmington Canal Rail-To-Trail Association. Register here.

* Annual Fall Foliage Ride on the Farmington Canal, October 26, 9:30am-11:30am (Meet at the Learning Corridor)

Join us for our annual fall foliage bike ride on the Trail. We will be biking at a leisurely pace, about 7mph, for about 12-14 miles in total. We will be narrating some of the historic and cultural sites along the route. Meet at the Learning Corridor (133 Hazel Street) at 9:30am for a prompt departure. Please bring a helmet. Rain cancels.

* "All Things Pollinators" Event at the Learning Corridor, Saturday, October 26, 10am - 1pm (Visit After Our Fall Foliage Ride!)

Join our partner organization Community Placemaking & Engagement Network (CPEN) for a special "All Things Pollinators" celebration at the Urbanscapes Native Plant Nursery, located next to the Trail at the Newhallville Learning Corridor. In addition to the plant sale, there will be numerous exhibitors and workshops and lots of family-friendly activities at the nursery. We will be returning from our fall foliage bike ride in plenty of time for you to also visit the pollinator event!

* World Day of Remembrance of Road Traffic Victims, November 17, Goffe Street Park, 1-2:30pm

We are truly honored to have the statewide commemoration event for World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims in New Haven this year, at Goffe Street Park. Hope you can join us on November 17 at 1pm. Please let us know if you can volunteer at the event.

RSVP and share the event on Facebook:

* Recap of Shoreline Greenway Trail Walk, Part II of II

In August we completed Part II of our walking preview of the Shoreline Greenway Trail extension in New Haven, following up on the City of New Haven's release of new plans for the trail back in March. Read more about Part II of the walk in the New Haven Independent. Part I covered the area between Lighthouse Point and Fort Hale Park, and Part II covered the section between Fort Hale and Long Wharf. Thanks to all the hardy walkers who braved the nasty weather to complete Part II! Read previous article about Part I of the walk.
