Last week, New Harvest submitted an official recommendation to the USDA for how to label cell-cultured meat and poultry products.

Ours was one of 7,234 comments submitted by fellow nonprofits, cultured meat companies, conventional meat producers, researchers, consumers, early adopters, and critics. (As of this email, only 494 are posted, presumably because the department is still processing a flood of last-minute submissions).
This was an unexpectedly large turnout! Last year, the FDA only received 35 comments when they issued a nearly identical request for information about cell-cultured seafood.
What happens next?
We wait! Meanwhile, Yadira - our research collaborations director who spearheaded this bear of a project - will be fielding questions about this and our safety initiative at Cell Agri's EOY summit on Thursday (discounted tickets available here).
