Seven years and four days ago, New Harvest coined the term "cellular agriculture" in a Facebook group. Read the full thread (including the names we rejected) and story of how we landed on "cellular agriculture!" 👀 MARCH HIGHLIGHTS Our safety paper was cited in a FAO food safety foresight report.  New Harvest Research Fellow Natalie Rubio was cited in the latest IPCC report.  We sold out of early bird tickets for New Harvest 2022, converted our academic/nonprofit discount application into a waitlist, and received over 200 "elephant in the room" programming suggestions.  A MILLION DOLLAR WIN Earlier this month the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded Dr. Amy Rowat at UCLA a $1 million grant to continue scaffold research started by New Harvest Research Fellow Stephanie Kawecki in 2019. New Harvest ultimately unlocked one million federal dollars for cultured meat research.  (Check out that fictional cultured meat menu Stephanie brought Dr. Rowat here 👈) Through all our evolutions as an org, I think the best way to describe New Harvest is as people's “first fans” in cell ag. If you have a minute and 30 seconds watch this video. Stephanie is the shirtless fellow and NH (thanks to every donor reading this) is green shirt. The NSF comes in at around 1:16. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: CELL AG MACARONS  The Every Company (formerly Clara Foods and before that the NH Egg Project) collaborated with Chantal Guillon on a limited-edition batch of cell ag macarons. Unfortunately they are all sold out BUT you can be notified when they restock here!  OPPORTUNITIES AND EVENTS 2022 Tufts Food Symposium virtual roundtable "Unpacking Meat: Values, Cultures, Futures" is April 8. Isha will be representing cellular agriculture. Register here.  CMS Astro, a week-long virtual symposium exploring the role of cultured meat technology in space, is April 25-29. Register here. Cultivate UK, a multi-voiced forum for cellular agriculture in the UK, is May 12. Register here. University of Bath is hiring two lecturers which could be in cellular agriculture. Apply here by April 24.  New Harvest 2022, our fifth annual conference, is June 9 & 10 in NYC.
