... and bang the drum!
Hello, Everyone.
As of today we have 11 Windmills registered for our regatta on 9/22 & 9/23, 2 Scots, and 0 Lightnings.
Although we will need only 3 Lightnings and 3 Scots to have fleets in the regatta, fleets not having 10+ registrants by our pre-registration deadline (postmarked or handed in by 9/1) will receive awards for 3 places (rather than 5). Also, our t-shirt order deadline is 9/1, as well (so if you don't register by 9/1, you cannot order a regatta t-shirt). 9/1 is also the deadline to indicate that you need to be included in our out-of-state boat registration waiver application (the Windmills are all set). Lastly, please note that boats must carry current boat registration (or be in the waiver), or they will not be able to participate in this event.
Please be sure to send your registration in right away, put it in the clubhouse mailbox, or give it to Mark Aronson or myself this coming weekend. Participants can absolutely register after the deadline or on race day, no problem, just know the implications for t-shirts orders, number of awards, and boat registration waivers. A copy of our NOR/Registration Form is attached to this email, for your convenience.
Many thanks to Ted for posting to the ILCA, and to Rich & Tim for working the New England FS fleets. Please help make certain that your friends from local fleets are in the loop on all of this.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Dennis

Subject: MYC Regatta - 2018: Pump It Up!!!
Good Evening, Windmill, Lightning, and Flying Scot Sailors!
You have a wonderful opportunity to participate in the MYC One Design Regatta on September 22-23. Your fellow Lightning, Windmill, and Scot sailors from other clubs can join us, and we hope that they do. Please help us get the word out by posting the attached NOR to your class or regional website and add an encouraging note, if you like -- here's a link to what is posted to the FSSA website. You can also simply forward this email to your friends and contacts in other clubs.
It's real important that you reach out to friends and other prospective guests (Bow Lake, Squam, PSU, UNH, etc.) with this information very soon because:
A. If they don't register by 9/1, they can't get a regatta t-shirt -- and if we don't have enough orders, there will be no t-shirt order this year. BTW -- anyone interesting in designing for us this year?B. If they don't register by 9/1, your fleet may not qualify for awards for places 1-5 (fleets of less that 10 boats registered by 9/1 will be awarded for places 1-3, regardless of how many boats ultimately race in your fleet)C. If a visiting boat is from out of state, where boat registration is not required, they will not be included in our registration waiver application to the NH Marine Patrol if not registered by 9/1, and will not be able to participate in our regatta. [The Windmills are all over this.]D. If an NH boat is not properly registered, it will not be permitted to sail in our regatta (so if you or your friends are not registered yet, get cracking!).
There has been discussion about hosting a reception for our guests (and ourselves) on Friday night and a larger dinner on Saturday night. That would be awesome. Please remember that hosting this regatta is a major undertaking, and many hands make light work -- so please find a way to help out (t-shirts, awards, reception, breakfast, dinner, etc.)! RC will be covered well by Ed Cande and Jim Greene again this year, for which we should be VERY grateful. Mark will continue to lead our racing program by administering/managing this regatta (registrations, $, results). We need more registrations and more volunteers to make the magic really happen this year. Please help us make this regatta an event that we can all be proud of -- a real showcase of who we are at the Massabesic Yacht Club.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please send me (apde...@aol.com) or Mark (ma...@mlans.net) a note.
Thanks very much, and I hope that you will choose to participate in this year's Massabesic Yacht Club Annual One Design Regatta!
Sincerely,
Dennis Dobe
