Spring Book Sale - Contactless Book Drive - CONFIRMED

After many months of demand for book donation options, we at the Rockcliffe Park Spring Book Sale are able to confirm that our drive-thru (contact-less) book run for GENTLY USED BOOKS ONLY will proceed as follows:
WHEN: Saturday November 7
TIME: 10 AM to 1:45 PM
LOCATION: Parking Lot, Rockcliffe Park Community Centre
- 380 Springfield Road (entrance on Springfield. )
As it is still not feasible to hold an actual Book Sale in the near future, donated books will be sold en masse and funds will be used to support the Library and, thru the Library, the Community writ large.
The book donation drive will be managed in keeping with Public Health guidelines. As such, there are a number of very strict guidelines that we all must follow.
1. Please arrive with only 1 person per car (we need to restrict our total number in the area to under 25 and that includes individuals in cars).
2. Please wear a mask – even in your car.
3. We ask that you never leave your car.
4. Please enter the parking lot ONLY when directed to do so by a volunteer.
5. Keep cars 2 meters apart.
For the book drive:
1. Pack your books FACE DOWN in small to medium size wine-style boxes, so the box will close. (This protects the books, as the boxes will be stacked.) Boxes are often available from LCBOs or grocery stores in the wine section, on demand. Choose boxes that hold 12 bottles.
2. Place your boxes of gently used books in the trunk of your car.
3. Drive to the Rockcliffe Park Community Centre (380 Springfield Road) parking lot, Springfield Road entrance.
4. Line up to enter along Springfield.
5. At the entrance to the parking lot, we will have volunteers who will direct you – when to enter the parking lot and where to go.
6. Once in your designated spot, open your trunk. Our volunteers will remove the boxes of books from your trunk.
7. As soon as your boxes have been removed, you will be asked to depart the parking lot through the Buena Vista exit.
This is a drive-thru contact-less donation run, so .... please remain in your car AT ALL TIMES and have your boxes of books in the trunk of your car, ready to be collected.
Our volunteers will be wearing masks and will be distanced throughout. We ask you to do the same.
Please remember – ONLY GENTLY USED BOOKS PLEASE! Your donations should be in good condition.This is an experiment, so please bear with us .... if it works, we may be able to do it again!
Recall that we are only allowed to have 25 people in the area for an outdoor event .... we (and you) can be fined if more people are in the area. So, as above – one person per car please .... wear that mask and please do not leave your car.
