Sam: Council for many years, Info Booth, too. Facilitating tonight. Taylor: Likes it here, Sam is cute. Omo: on and off council 3 times or so, was construction coord years ago, other duties, too. Barb: here since 1985, in Come-unity House. Arthur: here since before he was born. Sophia: third year coming to Fair, wants to be in Little Village, is a poet and performer and a pre-school teacher. Horst: Doors booth since 2012, traveled a lot this summer, glad to be here. Kim: co-coord in Intentional Communities booth, has been council shadow and attends their meetings, will stand this year. Tim: Introduced to Fair by Nel Applegate who’s birthday was Tuesday, designed and coordinated the rebuild of the Info Booth, coord for Doors then on council since 2002-3.
Site Report – 5
David: Site looks good. Last weekend trees were wrapped in fencing to ward off beavers. Go Ducks. Ash Borer not here yet, but hundreds of tree seedlings ready to plant and care for to replace ash trees that will die.
1 Fun Thing – 20
Omo sang the Pete Seeger song, “Last Night I had the Strangest Dream”, we all sang and swayed along.
Fair Announcements
This Saturday, 10-11 at 6:30 at the Unitarian Universalist Church Eugene, 1685 W 13th, there is the OCF annual meeting featuring the candidates for the board, who will speak to all present about their qualifications, etc. Voting will occur at the end of the meeting. https://oregoncountryfair.net/event/ocf-annual-membership-meeting-3/
Fair feedback: the Coffee setup in the House was a success, with community interaction and effective volunteers.
Pass distribution info requested by the Fair was provided by Karla. The Fair is looking at crew staffing numbers in the hope of reducing volunteers needed to lower expenses as last summer the number of volunteers and workers was greater than the public ticket holders. (I think that is what was said)
Stand for Council – 10
Tim read the Council Selection Process (which needs updating going forward) clarifying that villagers who have concerns for any council candidate must contact them to begin discussions within 1 week of these notes being posted on the DRUM. (posted 10-11, concerns accepted before 10-19) Those candidates who receive no concerns in that period will be confirmed at the November meeting. Others will go through the process and either be confirmed or blocked at the January village meeting, depending on the outcome as they discuss the concerns. Candidates’ names and contact information listed below. See the full text of the process HERE. If you wish to call and no phone number is listed below, you can contact ocf...@gmail.com and you will be sent their phone number.
Candidates stated their experience and priorities, and stood on behalf of those who were not there. Kimberly Robles stood as well as all presently serving council people except Nathan Georgitis.
