New “News”
· Spring is here and it is now officially “Testing Season”. Please watch for communications coming home on testing dates. We will be administering the MCA II which counts for Adequate Yearly Progress – this is a federally required test that we must do. It is important for the “No Child Left Behind” program so it’s crucial our students take the test and do their best on it. Also, the 9th grade writing test that is required for graduation is coming up in April as well. NWEA testing is at the end of April. These are all necessary evils and we appreciate your help in getting your kids here rested and well-fed. Please stay tuned for more information.
· Remember – 2 hour late start Wednesday, April 1.
· Yearbooks – last year’ yearbook (2007-2008) was a challenge and our production date has been pushed back, but it is now close to being submitted with the goal of having them back before school is out for the summer. Plans are being made for the 2008-2009 yearbook and students are starting to work on that. Watch for a flyer coming home soon.
· National Honor Society is doing a food drive from April 1 – April 15. Please send non-perishable foods and commodities or a cash donation to help out our local food shelf.
· National Honor Society induction ceremony has been changed to Thursday, April 16th because the initial date was the Thursday before Easter and folks had conflicts.
· Jeremie Bethke will be hosting a one-man art show at the Hutchinson Mall starting April 16th. This is part of his senior project. Jeremie is an artist working in pencil, marker, and colored pencil mediums. Watch for details on his “meet the artist” reception on the 16th.
· Open House – we are hosting an open house on Thursday, April 2nd (next week). The public is invited to attend. We are hoping families who are looking for a change in their child’s education will come and check us out. Please pass the word along to any families with students in grades 7 – 12.
