Truancy is a Biggie here in the CCSD. I have been to the Court House
in the Truancy Division and the place is so packed that it goes out
the door of the court house. What I do know, because I have been in 6
Truancy Court Hearings is that the CCSD sends to the Court the
absentee information from the school on the child and teen. No where
in this report is it stated that this child or teen is a Special Needs
Student on an IEP and Behavioral Intervention Program. They only go
on how many days the child has been absent.

In conjunction with this they also ask for CPS to be involved.
Commissioner Compan (sp) has had 5 of his rullings turned around by 2
of his bosses for making rulings that the parent must sign a "Release
of Information Form" for release of papers to the School District
including Medical and Psychological reports. At one of the Truancy
Hearings I was at they were getting ready to handcuff the parent for
refusing to sign this "Release of Information" and to give the parent
23 days in jail. It was only through a letter that I wrote to the Big
Boss that he was removed from the case, the case was dismissed and
Commissioner Compan was repermanded - Again!

If you are in Truancy Court and this happens to you, that the Judge or
Commisioner wants you to sign a "Release of Information" form for the
School District say NO!. This is not the venue for this - it should
be in another court format.

The majority of the time that they ask for you to sign this "Release
of Information Form is "retaliation" - of which I have seen over and
over and over again. The CCSD is "Using the Truancy Court".. Judge
Voy caught them at this and told them to knock it off and he better
not see this again.

And by the way...only attorney's are allowed to sit on the floor in
front of the Bench. The people that sit there are NOT attorney's.
