PulseAudio >=0.9.19 (approximately, at least in Gentoo) require udev
support in a kernel of at least version 2.6.30. If you are required to
use a kernel that is older, you'll want to locally mask these versions.
At least the Pandora is affected by this. TouchBook users may also be
affected, though I seem to remember having heard a 2.6.32 kernel was
released.
I've done some testing, and compiling your own
media-sound/pulseaudio-0.9.15-r2 should not break binary compatibility
with our binary repos.
(Pulseaudio 0.9.15-r2 uses HAL instead of udev. This is why it works.)
