For e.g Mr. Ghamidi said in one of his lecture that holy prophet PBUH always used to say 6 rakaats at time of ishaa prayer 4 farz 2 sunnat was it that 2 sunnah were also sunnah e muaqidah? Or ghair muaqidah?
Once Ghamdi sahib said that there is no record reference for 4 sunnah In esha prayer that our prophet used to pray . I want to ask that there is any work on it that how many rakats our prophet use to pray for example 6 in isha , want to know same for other prayers.
Before the maghrib prayer, the Prophet (sws) himself, in all probability, never offered any rakat, but he urged others to offer them if God provides them with the will and opportunity. Consequently, it has been narrated that in his lifetime, the Companions (rta) would be vigilant in offering these rakat.
The Prophets routine was to offer two rakat at home once he returned from the mosque after praying zuhr, maghrib and isha. He followed a similar routine after the Friday prayer. A narrative from Abu Hurayrah (rta) says that the Prophet (sws) asked people to pray four rakat also after the Friday prayer. Similarly, there are narratives which depict the blessings of praying four rakat after the zuhr prayer.
Of the rakat which are offered before and after prayers, the Prophet (sws) is reported to have said that those who adhere to offering two rakat of fajr, six of zuhr, two each of maghrib and isha, the Almighty will make for them a house in Paradise.
Isha is the last of the five daily prayers in Islam, a very demonstration of faith for practicing Muslims. Isha consists of various rakat, or combinations of prayers and prostrations, some of which are optional and others which are mandatory. Keep reading to find out how many rakat there are in this final daily prayer, how to perform them, and how this number compares to the other 4 daily prayers.
The sunnah prayers in a day include Two Rakahs before Salat al-Fajr, Four Rakahs before Salat al-Zuhr, two Rakahs after Salat al-Zuhr, Two Rakahs after Salat al-Maghrib, Two Rakahs after Salat al-Isha, and Tarawih, In this article will discover the answer to, are nafl and Sunnah the same?
Besides the obligatory prayers in Islam there are what is called nafl and Sunnah, what is the difference between them? Sunnah and nafl are similar to each other; they are both performed to worship Allah, and they are not obligatory which means there is no sin for not performing them. However, praying it grants you many rewards.
Scholars have different opinions when it comes to this question; some say that they are both the same while others say that Sunnah refers to what the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) did persistently. While nafel is what the prophet did sometimes not always.

From what the scholars said and what we understand from the above section, nafl meaning in Islam is an optional prayer that our beloved prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to offer but not persistently
Obligatory prayers are the five daily prayers, which are: Fajr, Duhr, ASR, Maghrib, and Isha, not performing them is considered a sin. While Sunnah and nafl are optional prayers, not praying them is not a sin, and praying them gives you extra rewards. Sunnah and nafl are performed similarly to the obligatory prayers.
Sunnah means the optional prayers that there is no sin in not performing them and many rewards when being performed. Sunnah includes 2 before fajr, 4 before dhuhr, and 2 after, 4 before ASR, 2 after Maghrib, and 2 after isha.
Nafl is an optional prayer that Muslims pray voluntarily to get closer to Allah and be rewarded. Not performing them is not a sin. Additionally, some say that when you pray more nafl prayers you will get more rewards. Nafl prayers include many prayers, here are some of them:
So, how to pray Nafl prayer? You pray Nafl prayer similar to the way you pray obligatory prayers. However, it is preferred to pray it in two Rakats. But if you like to pray it in four rakat you can do so.
How many Sunnah prayers are there in a day? The sunnah prayers in a day include Two Rakahs before Salat al-Fajr, Four Rakahs before Salat al-Zuhr, two Rakahs after Salat al-Zuhr, Two Rakahs after Salat al-Maghrib, Two Rakahs after Salat al-Isha, and Tarawih.
Whilst Sunnah means the optional prayers that there is no sin in not performing them and many rewards when being performed. Sunnah includes 2 before fajr, 4 before dhuhr, and 2 after, 4 before ASR, 2 after Maghrib, and 2 after isha.
One of the Nafl prayers that our beloved prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recommended us to pray for their many rewards and virtues. It is prayed after the maghrib prayer, and there is no specific number of Rakat to it but the minimum number is two Rakat and you are free to pray as much as you want.
A Sunnah prayer (Arabic: صلاة السنة) is an optional or supererogatory salah (ritual prayer) that can be performed in addition to the five daily salah, which are compulsory for all Muslims. Sunnah prayer have different characteristics: some are done at the same time as the five daily compulsory prayers, some are done only at certain times (e.g. late at night), or only for specific occasions (e.g. during a drought); some have their own name (e.g. Tahajjud) and some are identified by how they are performed (e.g. "4 (rakat) before Zuhr and 2 after"). The length of Sunnah prayer also varies.[1]
Sunnah (in mainstream Islam), means the traditional customs and practices that (are believed to) follow the example of Muhammad. According to the Sunnah of Muslim tradition, all of these prayers were originally performed by Muhammad (in addition to the five daily obligatory prayers).[2]
Sunnah prayer is not to be confused with Sunnahs of prayer. Not only are there obligatory and optional types of prayer, but obligatory and optional parts (words and actions) of a prayer (at least for conservative Salafi Muslims such as Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid).[7]
Tahajjud (Arabic: صلاة التهجد) prayer is performed at night time, and it is recommended that it be performed after first going to sleep for a part of the night. Scholars have different opinions about whether sleeping first is absolutely required or not. In Saudi Arabia during the fasting month of Ramadan, there are many people who leave the Tarawih prayers in the main masjid in a hurry so that they can go home, go to sleep, and then wake up to perform their Tahajjud prayers in the early morning. Others simply stay in the mosque and perform these optional prayers before going home.
The time for the Tahajjud prayers falls between the prayer times of the isha'a prayers and the fajr prayers. It is also recommended that the prayers be done in the last third of the night. Muslims believe that the reward is greater for those who do this prayer at a later time. (It is harder to wake up and pray early in the morning, making the person's effort greater, resulting in a greater reward from God.)
Tarawih (Arabic: صلاة التراويح) is a sunnah muakada night prayer during Ramadan.[10] It is prayer that is only done during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. It can be done alone, in a group, at home, or in a mosque or other public meeting area it does not matter. Typically, Muslims gather together and perform tarawih as a group, often amongst extended family members in one large house. Others may meet in their local mosque, a meeting hall, or even in an outdoor field. Depending on the country, the tarawih prayers might be done in mosque by men only, or by a mixture of men and women (although physically separated from each other). The number of rakat of Tarawih salah is Twenty. Muhammad was afraid that if he continued to perform the prayers in the mosque, then his followers might come to think that they were compulsory and not optional.[citation needed]
After Muhammad, Taraweeh was Still prayed by 20 rakats. The issue that people make that he prayed 8 is about Tahajjud (salah ). In the main mosque in Mecca, the Imam (prayer leader) performs twenty rakat and then you pray your isha witr prayers. The total number of people joining the tarawih prayers in the main mosque in Mecca may reach 3-4 million. They fill up all levels inside the mosque, the flat roof, outside in the courtyard, some nearby streets (which are closed off), and on occasions even using up space in the lobbies of some nearby hotels.[citation needed]
