Hi. Is there a way to turn off the auto complete features? For
example in PHP code, typing "(" or "{" automatically fills in the
corresponding close parenthesis or brace. Only rarely is it actually
helpful, but most of the time I have to delete the closing punctuation
because I didn't want it there and it slows down coding.

In the editor preferences turn off "Enable Behaviors".
This is the Ace Editor name for it, so I carried it over. But definitely not an intuitive name for the feature.
