The highlight of the promotional video for the trilingual was the amazing and minimalist BGM by IR. I wished that a full version of the BGM would be part of the album, and that wish was answered, albeit in half. The song version of the BGM piece is beautiful, but I personally feel the words, though good, somehow eclipse the beauty of the underlying BGM. The Tamil version scores better for this track, solely due to the rustic voice of the maestro.
Prakash bought the remake rights of the film Salt N' Pepper. It is a romantic story between two couples who accidentally get to know each other through their common love for food.[13] Besides directing the film, Prakash Raj has also acted in and produced the film. Tabu was initially roped in to play the lead female role but was dropped out.[14] Sneha signed the film later as a leading lady, playing Shwetha Menon's role from the original.[15] In May 2013, Prakash acknowledged that he would be directing Sneha in his upcoming venture on an episode of Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi that featured her and her husband Prasanna. Saymukta Hornad, daughter of popular Kannada actor Sudha Belawadi was cast for a role in the film and said that she was taking Telugu and Tamil lessons as she would be part of all three versions too.[16] A newcomer, Tejus, was selected by Prakash to play the role of Naveen, the love interest of Samyukta Hornad's character.[17] All the songs in the film are choreographed by Bollywood's popular choreographer and Prakash's wife Pony Verma Prakash Rai, who also debuted as an associate director with this film.[18]

The food song from Un Samayal Arayil, Indha Porappu Dhaan, lacks the instant appeal that the Malayalam equivalent had with its beautiful folk base and an authentic-sounding vocalist. By contrast, this one takes a more Hindustani-oriented route, with Kailash Kher on vocals. The constant switch in genres makes for an interesting background, and it is that which holds your interest in this song. Well that and the multiple culinary references. Waiting to see the video, the Malayalam one was.. yummy! With Eeramai Eeramai Ilayaraja enters familiar turf, but of the kind that haunts despite the familiarity, particularly for its strings section. And fab singing by Ranjith (who incidentally also sang a song in the Malayalam version) and Vibhavari. Therindho Theriyaamalo too belongs to the same category, except it is the guitars and sax that give this one its allure. Kaatru Veliyil would have made a lovely listen had the composer himself not been singing it.
