The deadline to submit nominations for Neurospora Research Awards ends tomorrow (July 15th, 2023). Nomination Materials in pdf format should be submitted by email to: neurosporapo...@gmail.com.
Thanks to everyone that has submitted a nomination. There is still time to nominate your fellow community members for an award. Nomination instructions and selection criteria for each award are described below.
The Perkins Award: This award was established in honor of our colleague, Dr. David Perkins, to support outstanding students and postdocs attending the Neurospora and Fungal Genetics Conferences. Recipients will receive a cash prize and will be invited to present their research findings at the Neurospora 2023 conference in Camp Allen, Texas.
Nomination instructions: The candidate’s research advisor should submit a one-page letter, including a 200 word or less description of why the individual’s work is exceptional. Up to two re-prints or pre-prints of published research may also be included with the nomination.
The Metzenberg Award: This award was established in 2004 by the Neurospora community to recognize the contributions of Dr. Robert Metzenberg to science, and to promote the work of others in the spirit of Metzenberg. The Metzenberg award is presented to a Neurospora researcher to recognize innovative research achievements that have significantly advanced our understanding of biology. The Metzenberg award is presented at the Fungal Genetics Conference at Asilomar.
Nomination instructions: Submit one nomination letter and the candidate’s CV. Additional letters of support may be provided.
The Beadle and Tatum Award: This award was established in 2002 in recognition of outstanding and original research using Neurospora as a model organism. This award is intended for young investigators whereby the award will help to advance their careers and to give more visibility to Neurospora as a research organism.
Nomination instructions: Submit a nomination letter describing the candidate’s outstanding research accomplishments. Additional letters of support may be provided.
The B.O. Dodge Award: These awards are made in recognition of the fact that a significant part of the success of Neurospora as a model research organism is due to the collaborative nature of its research community. Certain individuals who have made exceptional contributions towards community will be acknowledged by the awards.
Nomination instructions: Nomination letters for the B.O. Dodge Award should include a short description of the nominee's contributions to the community.
