I have a number of properly scaled reconstructions. Does the 3D view
give images of scaled morphologies after scaling?

I feel the 3D rendering gives the same magnification even after
scaling the reconstructions.
Could someone help me out.

or Does anyone know a good source to get nice pictures of
reconstructions for publication purposes?

Thanks.

I seem to recall some past comments about the scale bar in the 3D view
not being accurate.

Have you tried cvapp?
http://www.compneuro.org/CDROM/docs/cvapp.html

Or NLMorphologyViewer?
http://neuronland.org/

The NLMorphologyConverter app, also from NeuronLand, will let you
scale your SWC reconstructions in a number of ways, place the soma the
origin, and other operations that you may find useful.

You may need to take a screen shot and touch it up in a bitmap editor,
such as Paint on Windows. I don't recall whether these programs let
you save directly to a 2D graphics format, such a PNG or JPG.

Or if you are comfortable using Matlab, I believe the TREES toolbox
could be of interest:
http://www.treestoolbox.org/

If anyone has a preferred pipeline for generating figures from SWC
files, I'd also be quite interested in any tips you could share.

Thank you for your response Ben. I tried all the programs you have
mentioned and found luck in MATLAB trees tool box.
I scaled them in Neuromantic.(Matlab might do this too, have to play
with it to find a way)
However, MATLAB TREES tool box allowed me to save morphologies in EPS,
TIFF, JPEG formats.

It is really helpful.

Thanks a lot.
