Ok, what tools do you all recommend when it comes to working with an OWL ontology file? I've got a spreadsheet of definitions for concepts in my ontology and I'm trying to avoid adding them into Protege manually, cut and paste one definition at a time. :(  I know NIF has some nice tools for handling spreadsheets, no?

thanks for any tips!
Jess

Hi Jess,

I have code that I wrote back in the day to convert Tab2OWL that we used for OBI to format term hierarchies and their annotation properties into OWL. This has since been updated by James Malone: http://www.ebi.ac.uk/efo/tools

There is also the MappingMaster plugin for Protege: http://protege.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?MappingMaster. Martin, does this account for Annotation properties now in addition to OWL logical definitions?

Trish

Thanks Trish! I'll try the Tab2OWL plug in.

Hi Martin--I've been working with MappingMaster but it doesn't seem to allow anything other than classes and subclasses. Is there a way to import a definition or other annotation property?

Thanks,
Jess
