What are concept pages and how to they differ from category pages?
This looks kind of like a meta-category, defined by the query:

{{#concept:[[Category:Regional part of brain]] OR [[Category:Regional part of nervous system]]|

This is an odd union, though, as the former is subsumed by the latter. Why not just say:

{#concept:[[Category:Regional part of nervous system]]|}

I suppose the reason is because SMW doesn't do transitivity of categories.

In that case, should the union not be

{{#concept:[[Category:Regional part of brain]] OR [[Category:Regional part of nervous system]]|
   OR [[Category:Regional part of spinal cord]] OR ...

?

The main reason I ask is that the unions seem to be garbled a bit in the translation from smw to rdf (it's creating a nested union, where the top element has only a single member)

These directly inherit from Semantic MediaWiki's implementation of concept pages:

I think our use of them ended up being pretty half-hearted when we realized it didn't do everything we wanted.  I'm not sure we are currently relying them on much and could be a candidate for deletion if no one objects.

Thanks,
  Stephen

My vote would be for deletion, at least in this one particular instance

My understanding is that "Category" pages are used for vocabulary terms so I too would be in favor of deletion.

+1 for deletion in this case... i too found it a bit confusing until stumbling across the same page Steven links to below.

Cheers,

Nolan
