NOTE: The goal here is to wrap all of the threads and create a bundle that will become the head of the caterpillar. This is the only time the packing will run perpendicular to the caterpillar.

NOTE: When you are packing the body of the caterpillar you will always go under the threads starting on the opposite side of where your thread is coming out and you will end by going back into a hole, also on the opposite side of where you first came out. So, if it is coming out of a hole on the left side you will start the packing by going under the threads on the right side, and you will end by going into the next available hole on the right side.

If you want fewer, shorter legs on the tail end then you can continue wrapping the sections without going back into any holes, until you have legs the length you want. Just alternate the threads, continuing down each section, and then finish off as described above.

The concept is extremely simple. Once Greyson is able to count to said number, write the number, and recognize the number he gets to add the number to his caterpillar. This morning we put his caterpillar on the wall in his room using poster putty to adhere it.

The caterpillar is also excellent practice. As he is getting dressed in the morning I can ask him to count his caterpillar, or point to a number for a quick quiz if he starts struggling with a specific number for whatever reason.

However, I have decided to give a second option for this printable. I am offering to print, and cut out the caterpillar and all of the numbers 1-30 for $10.00 including shipping anywhere in the United States. If you are interested in this option just click the Buy Now button below to pay through paypal.

Most of the time, Ivan tolerates it. But when she ships him with a caterpillar? Whoa, that's going a bit too far especially when caterpillars are the bane of his existence! And telling him to kiss so it'll turn into a handsome prince?! C'mon, it's the 21st century, who believes in that crap?

Color matching and upper/lowercase matching caterpillar puzzles. Since the capital C and lowercase c are basically the same, I just added them to the color puzzles. I printed it, laminated it then cut the caterpillars out then cut them in half.

Caterpillar magnet page. I love these magnets from Amazon, they stick well, but are not too strong, and they have a little lip that makes for easy grabbing. I use these magnets from Amazon: 100 Pcs Power Magnets.

Caterpillar Clip Cards: I got the mini-clips from Wal-mart craft section, but she also has colorful paperclips she uses as well. Really you could use anything, even bingo markers or beans, etc. Just put the correct amount on the card based on the number.

I love these letter matching disks. Using my letter disks, match the correct letters to the caterpillar worksheet. For more of a challenge have students match lowercase disks to the upper case letters.

Graphing cards : they cards go from 1-10. You can have your kids put bingo dots on the squares, beans, cheerios, m&ms;, whatever. I usually laminate it then have her color the boxes in with a dry erase marker.

Caterpillar number order! I laminated then cut out the circles, and will have her put the caterpillar pieces in numerical order. Per reader request, (I updated this file to include numbers 1-20.)

Letter Collage Worksheets: The download includes letters A-Z as well as a collage idea sheet. We use the collage items as objects to decorate our letters for an alphabet book. We also color, paint, and stamp them. Since we use both upper and lowercase, I have provided both for you! Click here to download the Letter Collages:

Gigantic Floor Caterpillar: I put them all out on the floor and call out numbers and she has to hop to the correct number. I printed this on cardstock and then laminated for durability! If you prefer the traditional 1-10 rectangle cards, I have those included as well.

I also made lacing cards for the story as well. I punched holes in all the pieces then tied a piece of yarn to the caterpillar. As you read the story they lace on the items he eats. At the end they lace on the cocoon. I have them put the whole thing in a bag that I say is the cocoon, I put it behind my back and switch the bag out for another one containing the butterfly. After we discuss what happens to the caterpillar, I give them back their bag and let them reach inside and pull out the butterfly. They LOVE this! You can download the Hungry Caterpillar cards here!

We finished up with an caterpillar craft for fun. Did you know Caterpillars have 12 eyes? We were planning on an egg carton caterpillar, but did these instead. Use large popsicle sticks and glue pom-poms to it, pipe cleaner antennae, eyes and sparkles!

I tried to download the Hungry Caterpillar graphing too with no success. Like Nyla said, there were a ton of download buttons and when searching it says the files are invalid. Is there another place where these documents can be viewed and downloaded? Thanks!

I am having issues downloading the documents as well. I did click on the big blue Download button, but he keeps trying to have me download the iLivid program over and over without allowing me to download the Letter of the Week pdfs. Help!

The story follows a caterpillar from hatching from an egg on a leaf until becoming a butterfly. Each day the caterpillar eats through various fruits in an attempt to satisfy its hunger, but remains hungry. By eating through one green leaf, the caterpillar starts to feel better. After building a cocoon and staying inside for two weeks, the caterpillar emerges from the cocoon as a beautiful butterfly.Read less

Since my children started preschool, we have been making an All About Me caterpillar yearly on their first day of school. Their answers to the questions about their favorite things, their ambitions etc are always so fun to read a few years down the road.

This is also a wonderful activity for the first day of Preschool for teachers and students to learn more about each other. The children take turns sharing the answers during circle time.

On this printable, there are three pages with 18 circles. It is entirely up to you how many pages/circles you like to print out. Print and cut out the circles. On every page, I have also included one blank circle for the caterpillar head.

These All About Me Caterpillars make such precious keepsakes. Every year, take out the old ones and have fun reading the answers together with your children. I love looking at the photos and see how much my children have grown!

Hi there, I'm Fynn, an educator, author and mom of 3. I believe nurturing a love of learning begins at home. I'm here to help parents nurture a love of learning and build a strong bond with their children through fun learning together.

Kids of all ages love them for open ended art projects- a few blank pieces of paper and a box of Do-a-Dot markers could definitely buy you enough time to make dinner, read a chapter in your book, or just sit peacefully for a few minutes!

In addition to artistic expression, these markers have a plethora of learning activities that they are incredibly well suited for, especially counting skills and even addition practice. This caterpillar do-a-dot activity focuses on counting skills and is perfect for ages 2 to 4!

Use dot markers for best results (instead of coloring markers which have a fine tip), but you could also use colored stickers too, if your child is too young for markers. We used stickers a few times before dot markers were in our budget, and it was still a great, hands-on counting activity!

Math skills are crucial and can be started with simple activities very early in life. This caterpillar Do-a-Dot printable activity reinforces counting skills and also can add in color AND pattern practice!

Next time, ask them to pick two colors and practice alternating which color they use to make the dots in each row. Another time, add in another layer of fun and try the colors of the rainbow- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple!

Hi, friend! I love sharing fun learning activities, cool art ideas, seasonal crafts, and easy recipes too! Here at Mom Life Made Easy, you'll find plenty of "mommy magic" to help make your life easier AND more fun!

This would be fun to extend with other toys as well! For example, you could ask your child to find an animal or food toy item that begins with a particular letter sound, then place that toy on top of the letter! You could also flip the uppercase and lowercase caterpillar letters upside-down to create a matching game for an older child!

My son is having a hard time with his alphabet. So, I decided I wanted to make something for his room to help with learning the alphabet. Something fun and enjoyable to him. He loves bugs, so I thought of this cute Alphabet Caterpillar.

Now, he is four. However, this whole pandemic has really put a stop to much learning. It is hard enough just getting through the day sometimes! Our daughter even struggles sometimes remembering what she learned while in Preschool.

This tutorial will show you how to make an adorable alphabet caterpillar for your child's room. You can customize the size and, of course, the color of your caterpillar! The cute wall decoration will help your little one learn his or her ABC's!
