Fetching synapses but excluding certain neurons

I am fetching synapses from KC neurons and creating 3d plots of the pre and post synapse locations on the skeleton which works really nicely but i'm wondering if there's a way to exclude certain neurons from the fetched synapses. 
For example if I want to view all pre synaptic inputs to 1 KC, or all KCs of one type but exclude all inputs from APL.  Is this possible?

Are you using the website, or generating your own plots using Python (or R)?  If you're using the website, the skeleton viewer does allow you to show and hide the synapses from particular input/output connections.

If you're using Python, it would be helpful to see the code you're using so far.  Then we might be able to suggest some modifications to achieve what you're looking for.  I think the answer will involve fetch_synapse_connections:
