Can anyone tell me about using coreldraw to convert BMP & JPG to svg so that they can be imported into Easel? I have been browsing for the better part of daylight hours today and havent found anything
I usually use Online SVG image converter which is an online web based converter. That said, this will typically produce vector enclosed areas even when the BMP image would appear to be lines. To get around this I do further editing by hand to remove one of the paths.
.Dxf or .ai usually work fine if Corel is the destination. You might want to check with your laser supplier how the file comes in and see if you need to adjust options (especially with .dxf, there are many). You will need to bake the curves first, of course.
As I said, check your export options. Most if not all of the "canned" schemes in Rhino's DXF export include exploding polylines and curves. You will likely need to create your own export scheme that doesn't have these options checked.
If you do a search for " Launcher cannot connect to corel draw" on Google, you can see a lot of people have this problem, but no one really gives a solid answer on how to fix it. Questions in Corel Draw forum. Have you tried a system restore to before this happened? Maybe a Windows 10 update caused the problem.
Ok, So have you tried it in compatibility mode Windows 7? On your Windows 10 computer? By the way, Seeing as how you have a Graphtec CE6000, didn't you get the Graphtec Pro Studio with it? Much better software. It's like Flexisignpro. It's over a $1000 software.
windows 10 is the bane of my existence. i had to buy a new laptop to run my laser machine - too bad the only ones out there are now win10. i bought my coreldraw 2018 and life was good until there was a forced win10 update. then is basically semi-broke whatever good thing i had with the laptop and software. it would take upwards of 5-minutes just to send something to print. not because it was a difficult design or a large file, it just semi-broke. whatever that update was, it must have had some firmware update too, because i scrubbed and reinstalled windows, then reinstalled coreldraw, and the problem still lingered.
*for the record i tried to disable any and all auto update settings that win10 has in place when i initially fired up the laptop, no bueno. win10 still proceeded to update and break what was once working flawlessly. now every time i walk past the laptop, i do so giving it the "stink eye," if for no other reason - that it makes me feel a little better.
I have CorelDraw 2019 and I was doing fine until two days ago. Now it says It can't connect to CorelDraw. I've uninstalled the Silhouette Connect Software and installed it again. It worked for one time only. Now I get the same message again.
In this tutorial you will learn how to use the Smart Selection tool and Edit Selection mode to create a fine-detail selection, allowing you to replace backgrounds, isolate objects and combine images. We will review how the Smart Selection Brush works and how it differs from other selection tools. Once you have made your preliminary selection, you can then use the Edit Selection mode to fine tune the selection area to add or remove parts of the selection.
Thanks for watching! We hope you found this tutorial helpful and we would love to hear your feedback in the Comments section at the bottom of the page. You will find a written version of this tutorial below, and a printable PDF copy to download on the Download Resources tab above.
In this tutorial you will learn how to use the Smart Selection brush and Edit Selection mode to create a fine-detail selection, allowing you to replace backgrounds, isolate objects and combine images. We will review how the Smart Selection brush works and how it differs from other selection tools. There are multiple selection options and multiple ways to edit selections. Your preferred methods will come from what your needs are, the layout and composition of your images along with practice and trial and error.
The Smart Selection brush works by clicking and dragging over the area you want to select. It will automatically add all other connected areas into the selection as set by your parameters in the Property bar.
You want to select the sky and none of the balloons or near mountains. Starting in the lower left corner of the sky, hold your mouse button down, go up, over and around the balloon and end in the opposite corner. The brush size we set makes it perfect for getting around the balloon.
Once you activate Edit Selection mode, you will see that your selection is now identified by the reddish hue, a bit easier to see than the marching ants. Now we can add and delete areas of the selection by using the Eraser tool.
As an example, we will remove one of the small hot air balloons from the selection. Activate the Eraser tool and set the Size to 45. Brush over the balloon with the Eraser tool and it will be covered with the red tint, indicating that it is now part of the larger selection area (which is the background sky).
The background layer will be renamed Raster 1. Now press the Delete key and the area you have selected will be deleted and you will see a checkerboard pattern in its place (this indicates the area is transparent). You can now press Ctrl + D to remove the selection marquee.
When i export them to PLT through Corel or Inkscape the lines are sometimes broken. The breaks are visually invisible. The drawing looks the same but when i zoom in there are places where a node or 2 are missing - tricking my laser cutter into thinking that they are not single continouos lines.
I am building a program that exports those polygons and i want to know what is going wrong - there must be some restrictions on HPGL/PLT file format - so that i can configure my program to output a correct path that can be exported without those issues.
A workaround if you are in the same situation is to reduce the node count by using Corel's Reduce Nodes function that you can access by exposing the nodes in the drawing(Shape Tool), then select all nodes using the appropriate flyout button(that appears when you expose the nodes) and click on Reduce Nodes. This is curve approximation and distorts a little the shape you had before(it smoothes it out). It is however quite accurate, albeit it reduces significantly the node count up to 8-10x(you can choose how much you reduce the nodes) and also it distorts at a small level the original shape. The polygon is turned into a curvy path where appropriate. When all this is done CorelDraw can re-import the (reduced nodes) exported PLT just fine.
Another solution is importing the exported PLT into Inkscape which processes it just fine. However the CorelDraw exported PLT must not be re-imported and re-exported into CorelDraw since it will break upon re-importing(due to the bug) and it will be re-exported broken.
The workaround i described has also been suggested by Corel's Tech Support, but i replied that this is not a solution but a workaround and that they should contact their Software Development team and get back to me.
I am running Corel Draw X8 under Windows 10 64 on the XPS 7760 - it is running horribly slow and is freezing for several seconds while/after saving, exporting or printing documents. Reinstall did not help. Same Corel Draw version works fine on other PCs with Win10 64.
With a program such as Corel Draw and depending on the PC hardware spec's and what else is running it can slow down. Possibly more memory is one option. If it only has the basic Intel 530 graphics instead of the optional AMD Radeon video that is another possibility. If its memory, you may be able to upgrade but as the all in ones are basically a laptop with a desktop display upgrading video is not an option.
You may hear that PDF files have a limit of 200 inches. That is just a bit over 5 meters for those working in metric. This is completely false! There is no such limit in the PDF file format. The limit is in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.
Once you have a PDF file to test, go ahead and open it in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. I tested in Adobe Acrobat 9 and the result was a blank page. I tried to open it in Adobe Illustrator CS4 and got mixed results. Two of the text objects were missing, but it did display everything else (not necessarily correctly). The background object extends beyond the edge of the page because of the page size limitation in Adobe Illustrator I mentioned earlier.
Hi there
the problem is that even Draw makes fine 15-20 m length pdf files
the RIP software that will treat that file will rely on adobe limitations
tested that on Roland eco solvent printers, here should we must focus
cause PDF give us the crisp vector quality on long signs
The version of CorelDRAW is not important. The newest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro I have is X and the file provided with this post fails exactly as described. Maybe Adobe has fixed it in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, but I have no way to test it.
I created a 15 meter wide PDF in Inkscape and while rendering perfectly fine on my built in PDF viewer (Evince, used on Fedora 25 desktop), it rendered only part of it for other people. This post explains why. Good to know it for future reference.

I'm having an odd problem here, but maybe for you it's easy.I have CorelDraw 10 installed on my PC which has a flatscreen. Everything
works fine (or as fine as it can) except for the color palette. E.g. it's
impossible to get a dark blue (like RGB 0,0,30). Instead I get a dark
purple.First I thought it was because of the flatscreen but all the other colors
(like the dark blue bar at the top of each window) are ok.What am I doing wrong here? Thanks for your help!Regards
