I just installed GCam port ( -camera/f/changelog1148/) on the Fairphone 3+ I have to review. Did not test night mode yet (it is still daytime here ) but everything seems to work well. Selfie in portrait mode is way better. Stock camera has a color issue and portrait mode blurs to close to the face, result is a bit weird in the hair.
I think the result in night mode is impressive for the clarity without looking overprocessed and completely washed out like other samples. Unfortunately the preview does not help as with Gcam were you see a bright image like the final output - useful for composition and focus check.
Thank you for the post. If I have to choose between the two options I would go for Xiaomi 12s ultra in night mode (Leica authentic) instead of Bigkaka version if I do not option to continue working on the image. Otherwise I would go with Bigkaka version + Photoshop.
In the new update, the night sight mode was added to the application to increase the exposure and sharpness in low-light settings. It takes several snaps to render the perfect night view by adding radiance to the photo.
The Google Camera Go app was first introduced earlier this year alongside the Nokia 1.3. It's designed for low-end devices with single cameras, so it comes with a simple interface with basic features like face enhancement, photo, video, a portrait mode, and a built-in visual translator. The latest update to the app adds Night Mode, though Google is also preparing to add HDR support to the app.
As with Zoom, Google has made great strides in improving the Bokeh of images shot in Portrait mode on the Pixel 3. Since it is still a single-camera phone, with a fairly similar sensor and optics, this improvement is attributable to better automatic image processing using computational imaging. Background blur is more even and natural than for the Pixel 2, although the Pixel 3 can still be fooled by complex scenes such as ones in which the portrait subject is leaning on or holding something that is part of the background.
I am using a LG G8ThinQ with a google camera mod that provides astrophotograpy mode. (NGCam_8.1.101-v1.3-fix) See -Nikita/ for specifics. The google camera versions are updated from time to time on newer pixel phones, I don't know if this is the latest version if you get a newer Pixel. You can save some money by looking on Ebay for a recent android phone with a bad ESN (won't be able to activate it but camera will still work), then adding the GCam mod. If you are willing to do a little homework this is the cheapest way. I bought my LG G8 about 6 months ago on Ebay and paid $140, but only use it for the camera.
You must have a version 7.x of Google camera on that Pixel 4a. I think that is the version that shipped with it. I have used a modded version of the 7.x series in the past but didn't notice the option to set subexposure times until I updated to version 8.1, which I am using now. It allows multiple subexposures up to 16 seconds, in the advanced options menu. You need to find a way to update your Gcam version. The astrophotography mode is still being tweaked apparently; I dont know what capabilities are available on the new Pixel.
So I've downloaded the camera app, configured it with the included XML file as described, but I noticed that somehow, I screwed everything up. The image quality is on par with the Samsung Camera app in normal mode with the normal settings and in Night Sight with the XML file loaded, GCam crashes at 1.5 ms and 2.64 ms Night Sight Correction levels and at 2 ms, GCam doesn't finish the exposure process, so I have to restart GCam, taking a blurrier picture than the 1 ms image in the process.
GcamLoader is an app that can give your device the best camera for Android, regardless of brand or model. With GcamLoader, you can access a wide variety of modified versions of the Google camera created by the developers of the Gcam project. These versions are based on the original Google Pixel app, and adapted to work on other devices. As a result, you can use Google Camera on Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Nokia, Vivo, Sony, Motorola, Oppo and many other devices.
Google's camera has many advantages compared to the default one incorporated on your device. Google has one of the best image post-processing algorithms on the market. What's more, you can try out different modes, including portrait mode, night mode, astrophotography mode, or HDR+, which will improve the quality of your photos.
Google also updated its Night Sight camera mode that uses long exposure to capture detailed shots in low light, and it now supports videos... Sort of. The updated Night Sight will now take both a picture and video when you tap the shutter button, and the system stitches together the multiple frames you record for however long you leave the camera running to make an animation.
The Pixel 6 Pro's ultrawide night mode shot isn't as sharp as the iPhone's, but it's brighter and has better colors -- particularly the orange streetlight on the left of the frame, which looks deep red on the iPhone's image.
The story is the same with the telephoto cameras. The Pixel's shot is brighter but less sharp than the iPhone's. It's really impressive that the phones are able to capture such good photos at night, and they're definitely at the top for night-mode imagery. If you're debating which phone to get based on night mode alone, you'll have to ask yourself whether you want the brighter image from the Pixel 6 Pro or the sharper image from the iPhone 13 Pro.
Personally, I think the iPhone 13 Pro takes the win in the night-mode test, but the Pixel 6 Pro comes out on top everywhere else. Its 4x telephoto zoom is superb, and I've loved some of the more artistic images I've been able to get with it. The Pixel's main camera leans a little heavier on the saturation than the iPhone's, but it offers gorgeous, well-exposed images that anyone would love to share on their social feeds.
In addition, we also found that Night Sight was far more consistent with delivering sharper images in considerably shorter time than its Night mode counterpart, which could take around 10 to 30 seconds to process depending on lighting. These clear advantages make GCam a solid choice if you're into taking nighttime photos while out and about.
Every time we come across a high-definition image of a starlit night sky or milky-way, our brows rise up in awe. We secretly wish to be able to click such photos on our smartphones. Obviously, not everyone is able to buy a high-end camera or related hardware to click such images as the pro guys do. What if we tell you it is possible to capture such photos using a smartphone.?
Like on the V30S, the G7 ThinQ's camera operation is enhanced by LG's artificial intelligence technology that can detect objects and scenes and auto-adjust camera settings accordingly. In practice the new mode is more of a gimmick than anything else. It often detects objects correctly but has also been wrong quite frequently during our testing. The impact on image output isn't really noticeable either.
