But, as we know, we are so far from what a summer day feels or should be like. Instead we have been propelled into the future with the worst science fiction scenario ever. Who would have ever thought that in 2020 every New Yorker would be wearing a mask at the grocery store but it is here.

To be alive to me at this moment is a lot. It almost takes everything to endure what we have been living through with this pandemic. Not only have we had to deal with a leadership that has told us cleaning supplies might be the answer (and some people did this by the way). But we have had to adapt over night to this life of being at home, not being able to get close to our neighbors and, most importantly, the people we love.

I think one thing you have to think about is the conditioning of all this. This is where I get into education and the silent heroes because being African American, an African American male, I have seen so much. I have watched so much. I have experienced so much. So much of this systematic racism, this racism that has brainwashed us for so long. I think I started to understand that there was brainwashing going on when I was in high school. I was an angry Black male in high school. But I had some heroes even back then that would challenge me to be better, to think better.

So I started painting; I found something. I found something that let me deal with my anger, my idleness, and it also gave me hope. And I must say that growing up sometimes, that what you felt like was missing from the community, was a sense of hope of believing that you could be something.

So when I watch Floyd die, I think about how I got here, how I can say something and I still have a chance to be heard and write my own narrative of what it means to me to be black in America. I have heard my heroes that encouraged me to be me. That never judged me by the bad, but only wanted to bring out the good. That never let the color of my skin get in the way of them teaching me and making me a better person.

To me racism dies every day with people like Graham and some of the heroes I have met in my life. Because they have given me a chance to rewrite the narrative that slavery had written for me. By me living my experience I pray that it will encourage others to do the same. This is the narrative I want to continue. I want the image of love, the image of black and white existing together to change. I want everybody to be able to speak their truth. And for us to rebuild on love and trust and not power and dishonesty.

Amazing album cover art has become absolutely essential to what makes Stoner and Doom so special. Some of the most talented illustrators and creative visionaries have flocked to this scene in particular and made their art the silent heroes of Stoner Rock.

Finally, the Welcome to Sky Valley album cover is so iconic that Kyuss and Stoner Rock fans travel across the globe to take photos in front of the now newly renovated welcome sign in the desert. The photograph was taken by Alex Solca, a photographer of many bands and many more things. This cover really speaks to the scene at the time. This was not staged. This was the desert exactly as it was. This is where they came from, where they played, and what they represented. This is why Kyuss was the real deal. Welcome to Sky Valley.

As Stoner Rock is often times about expanding your mind and taking you on a trip, good artwork is often the same way. Some art is just simply mind-blowing. Another great thing about this scene is that vinyl has made a massive comeback and holding the art in your hands and exploring the intricacies while letting the music take control is damn near essential.

Some art just completely stands on its own, following no clichs or traditional elements. Just like the out-of-the-box thinking bands in this scene, many of these album covers just cannot be categorized.

Of course, the art mentioned here only begins to scratch the surface of the amazing world of Stoner Rock art. There are many more amazing artists not mentioned here, and many more bands that are always seeking out the best artwork to complement their music.

I have lost my only son, my youngest child and any human being will understand the gravity of those words, any parent the heartache they hold. But unless you have walked in these shoes you cannot understand the depth of that statement. I had two wonderful children, pets, a home, family, friends, work and so much more. I have lost more than a child. I would look at blue cloudless sky on a beautiful summer day, feeling the warm breeze and feel the happiness of it. Now I note the beauty and may remark on it but I no longer feel the joy of the day. I would anticipate birthdays and Christmas with a wonder, excitement and anticipation that was boundless, now I simply smile through each event. I would hear songs and music and it would move me to joy or to tears, now it is very hard to listen to music and my world has become mostly silent. The sheer joy, quiet pleasure and heartfelt happiness no longer exist as they did before. I can still talk and joke and laugh and smile. I still love and hurt and live but life is no longer the same. I have lost a child and I will live forever in the shadow of that pain. I hurt for my daughter who will forever miss her brother. I agonize over the pain caused to our family and friends in his passing. I grieve. But I live and I will continue to pick myself up each day and go on. I will try to help anyone I can. I will love my family and friends and try to commiserate with others over unpaid bills or dirty dishes or spoken words in moments of thoughtlessness. I have not lost my faith. I know that the evil in this world took my son. God did not hurt me to punish me. God did not take my son. Yes, He could have protected Tyler and left him with us but there is a reason Tyler went before us. There are so many things I want tell you that have convinced me that God was with us before, during the first dark years Ty left and still now. Some things in my weaker moments I can dismiss intellectually as just a coincidence but always in my heart I know there is no such thing as a coincidence, God is with us.

see Why children tend to love mothers? By the nature of their work, some fathers leave home early in the morning for work just to return late in the evening sometimes just in time to kiss their children good night.

Some of them per their duties are separated from their children for days, months and years! But in their absence, they make sure their wives and children sleep in good houses, drive in good cars to school and never go hungry.

He said their dad tried his best to catch up anytime he came home. He spent long hours with them (the children), asking them to share with him their progress at school, their relationship with their teachers, friends, immediate neighbours, he even wanted to find out if their Mum was efficient in taking care of them in his absence and many other issues.

I am happy to share another moving narrative given by Collins, a primary school friend of mine who will run to his mother when he needed items for school and for use in the house; books, school uniforms, Christmas clothes among other stuff. His Mum will smile and direct him to his Dad.

During the heat of the coronavirus outbreak with its consequence lockdown, real Dads and Mums were called to duty across the globe. Schools, colleges and universities as we all know, were closed, some workers worked from home and as a results, children and parents found themselves together when it was not the usual holiday period.

This is how heroes are made; they say every cloud has a silver lining. As some Dads were making strides, others were crying out loud because living with the family was unbearable. We see the difference between heroes and others?

If you are a Dad and you are lagging behind, it is a day to have a sober reflection and I pray that you are lifted up by the power of the most high, be resourced materially and spiritually to discharge your God given responsivities as a loving Dad.

The Young American Medal for Bravery is so special that the law mandates that it be given to the recipients only by the President of the United States and is to be given to no more than two young people a year. And two points are made by these directives. One is that the recipients are so important to us that the Chief Executive of the Nation must personally honor them. And the other is that the winners are the very bravest of the brave.

Now, it's been said that of all the virtues, courage is the most important, because without it we would never have the strength to practice the others. Now, that's a comment about moral courage. But what about physical courage? The stories of these two young men tell us something about that.

Both these young people made a conscious decision under pressure to ignore personal safety, to ignore personal -- or potential pain and the possibility of death, and do an incredibly heroic thing -- save another human being from death.

On the evening of February 3d, 1983, the home of then 11-year-old Brian Gill was the scene of a terrible fire. Brian escaped without harm and was standing near a tree when he realized that his 3-year-old sister had become separated from his father and was still inside. Brian ran back into the house, which was now engulfed by flames. He felt his way along a wall, followed the sound of this sister's coughs, made his way to her side, and pulled her outside to safety. His little sister survived, and so did three other sisters. His 2-year-old brother, however, perished.

Almost 2 weeks after the fire in Brian Gill's house, 17-year-old, then, Jim Morris, was driving along an overpass near Grants Pass, Oregon. It was late and he was returning from work. Driving along, he and a companion looked down to see a car in flames on Interstate 5. A station wagon had been struck by a truck and was in flames, its gas tank ruptured. Morris raced for the car; and when he got there, he saw the driver, Thomas Bishop, trying desperately to get out. But Bishop was disoriented and shaking badly, and Jim tried to open the door of the burning car, but it stuck. So, he thrust himself through the driver's window, grabbed Bishop under the arms, and single-handedly pulled him to safety through the window. Less than a minute later, there was an explosion, and the entire inside of the car was engulfed in flames.
