Dear Journal club,

On Friday, I will present two papers on network motifs in the brain:

Sporns paper on Motifs:
http://www.plosbiology.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pbio.0020369

Song paper I referred to:
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pubmed&pubmedid=15737062

They are both available in the files in the group account if you
cannot download them from home.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Friday

Sincerely,
Tay Netoff

Thanks for the papers, Tay.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to miss the journal club this Friday. The time
we selected conflicted with the History and Philosophy of Science Colloquium
(no time would be entirely conflict free). This Friday one of my colleagues
is
giving the colloquium
on the history of wave/particle duality of light, and for a variety of
reasons
I need to attend this talk. I plan on being at next week's meeting.

Have a great weekend, everyone,

Jim

Good evening Tay:

I may have a conflict this Friday with
the journal club, as i did last week. Sorry
I haven't made it to the last few - been traveling a lot - it
is not due to lack of interest.

Laura will be coming home from Emory in a few weeks and after some
decompression will
be ready to volunteer in your lab (thank you once again fro your offer).

She asked me to ask - do you have any preference as to her schedule (she
is coordinating the lab work with babysitting/nanny gigs she
needs for the dinero)? Would a couple of days for the full
day be better than say four half-days per week? Any preference?

Thanks again - hope you survive the end of the semester intact.

Best,

Jim

Hey Jim,
The journal club had become a working group and has been very small
but very interesting. We half talk about papers and half about our
simulations and theory. We would love to have you back and get your
input.

Tell Laura that she should talk to me directly, you aren't her messenger.

But, I think she can get a lot done in 3-4 hours and will probably be
more efficient then just a couple of long days. It will also depend
on what hours she can work. If we can get someone in to make slices
in the morning, then she can come, do experiments and be gone by noon
or 1. If we can't get someone to make slices by 10, then there may
not be much to do in the morning. But, whatever works best for her is
fine by me. We'll work something out.

Tay -

Thanks for the quick reply.

The journal club conflicts with two other dept. seminars
friday afternoon. That I've managed to attend the ones I
have reflects my interest in it. Last week I
was traveling, giving
three talks in five days in two cities, so I had to flake.
Will try to make it this week however.

I'm doing Laura a favor - as she is stressed about finals. But I agree and
will have
her talk to you directly.

Thanks again for the quick feedback and I apologize for not
looking closer at the e-mail address I used. Is my face red.

Jim
