We are looking for an Akita-experienced rescue to assist with this handsome 4-year-old intact male (86 lbs). He is a very smart dog, highly attuned to his handler’s emotions, and requires confident, experienced handling.

⚠️ Behavior Notes:

• Can be intimidating to people who show hesitation; will growl and maintain intense eye contact with both humans and other dogs.
• Displays social interest in dogs, offering play bows, but his style can be predatory and stalking, which may not be appropriate for all playmates.
• Due to his handling needs, we have not heartworm tested him — not enough confident hands available for safe restraint.

✨ Positives:

• Smart and in tune with his handler.
• Social interest in other dogs (with careful management).
• Reported by Animal Control to have been seen playing with kids in the backyard of the home he originally showed up at.

This boy will thrive with the right experienced rescue that understands the Akita breed and can provide him with structure, confidence, and a safe environment.
