Dog Assessment: Bud is a sensitive, adorable boy who has slowly begun gaining confidence during his time in playgroup. Though initially nervous and unsure, he has shown steady improvement through repeated positive social interactions, engaging in gentle play, offering polite greetings, and even helping bring other shy dogs out of their shell. Bud appears to do best with calmer, respectful canine companions and can become overwhelmed by rougher or larger dogs, but staff have consistently noted his interest in socializing and his ability to settle in once he feels safe and comfortable.

The shelter environment has been especially difficult for Bud, and he would greatly benefit from a foster or patient adopter willing to give him the time and space to decompress. He can be very nervous with leash pressure and unfamiliar situations, often choosing to quietly observe the world around him rather than seek out toys or treats. Even so, Bud continues to show sweet, polite behavior toward both people and other dogs, and staff strongly believe there is a deeply loving companion hiding behind his scared eyes. With patience, gentle handling, and a calmer environment, Bud has every opportunity to continue building confidence and truly blossom.
