ALASKA
Name: Alaska (A305622)Age: 1y
Sex: NEUTERED Male
Weight: 66 lbs
HW Status: Negative
Alaska is a very friendly, happy, and social dog who has consistently shown well with both people and other dogs. He has been labeled a “playgroup rockstar” by our Assessment team, demonstrating strong social skills, adaptability, and appropriate play. In group, he engages in both push-and-pull and rougher play while regulating himself well, and has even helped other dogs come out of their shells, acting as a diffuser when needed. Outside of play, Alaska is loose-bodied, attention-seeking, and eager to engage. He walks nicely on leash, knows “sit,” enjoys toys and treats, and presents as a fun, affectionate companion.
Alaska does struggle with the kennel environment and can be vocal and slow to settle, which is not uncommon for dogs with his energy level and social drive. Once out, he is a completely different dog, relaxed, happy, and ready to interact. He would benefit from a home or rescue environment that can provide structure, enrichment, and an outlet for his energy. Overall, Alaska is a well-rounded, dog-friendly candidate with a lot of positive traits who would likely thrive once out of the shelter setting.
