Warmest Wags,
The HTAR Team

Happy Tails Animal Rescue of Washington County, VA
Located: Abingdon, VA

Scout AT RISK - Pittie mix, grayish brown/white, male, 4-6y, 38lbs. Scout was absolutely pitiful when he came to the shelter – so thin, boney, and completely terrified. After some TLC from shelter staff, he’s blossomed into the outgoing, friendly boy that met us today! Waggy and rolly, very enthusiastic about new friends and not at all shy about showing it - especially if a belly rub is on the table, which he is strongly in favor of. He also walks great on the leash, rounding out an already very appealing package. Scout appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray. 9/2 UPDATE: Dog tested great! Friendly and calm, lost of wags.

Mickey - Hound mix, tricolor, male, 2-4y, 45lbs. Mickey is a chill, waggy, go-with-the-flow kind of guy with the long legs and handsome bearing of a dog who knows he looks good. He could use some help with leash manners, but otherwise he's a relaxed and pleasant fellow who takes the world as it comes. Mickey appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray. 9/2 UPDATE: Wonderful dog test! Waggy and playful with his partner.

Juno AT RISK - Pittie mix, white/red brindle, male, 10y+, 53lbs. SENIOR ALERT! SUSPECTED HEARING IMPAIRED / PERIODIC MOBILITY ISSUES. Juno has been called "the friendliest dog here" by shelter staff, and after spending time with him today we are not prepared to argue. 🥰 This calm, happy, good-natured senior explored the yard with us and walked nicely on the leash despite the challenges life has handed him - we suspect some degree of hearing impairment, and shelter staff report that he occasionally seems dizzy and will lay down mid-walk (perhaps a vestibular issue?) Could use a dental. Juno came to the shelter as a stray. 9/2 UPDATE: Great dog test! Outgoing, waggy, and curious. Such a love!

Sera – Malinois mix, black/white, female, 2-4y, 48lbs. Sera is a bouncy, playful, treat motivated girl in excellent physical condition - muscular, fit, and absolutely ready to go! She also throws down a great sit on command. Sera appears overall healthy – pardon her slightly scruffy appearance because she’s currently blowing her coat and LOVED getting brushed today! She came to the shelter through no fault of her own following an executed search warrant. She came in with a litter of puppies who have all been adopted, leaving mom Sera still in need. 9/2 UPDATE: Lovely dog test! Relaxed and friendly, lots of sniffs and wags. Tested well with multiple partners!

Ronan - Husky mix, black/gray/white, male, 6-8y, 60lbs. Ronan is a calm, friendly, curious fellow who was easy to handle and accommodating throughout our visit - a genuinely pleasant, easygoing dog who takes everything in stride with quiet confidence. Ronan appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray.

Enzo - Aussie mix, tricolor, male, 2-4y, 52lbs. Enzo is a bouncy, energetic, thoroughly playful boy who discovered the fetch situation today and absolutely lit up about it. He's in great physical shape and clearly ready for an active lifestyle - he just needs a good groom to get his coat sorted out first. Enzo appears otherwise overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray. 9/2 UPDATE: Fab dog test! Playful and engaging.

Huxley - Anatolian Shepherd/Pyr mix, tan/white, male, 9-12 months, ~70lbs. Huxley is a big, goofy, super friendly young fellow who is still very much figuring out what to do with all those long legs and that oversized frame. He's playful and enthusiastic and clearly has a lot of growing still to do, in the very best way. Calm, relaxed temperament – very easygoing with us today. Huxley appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as a stray. 9/2 UPDATE: Tested like a dream against multiple partners! So calm and friendly. Truly chill boy!

image.png image.png

Sasha - Pittie/terrier mix, tan, female, ~1y, ~40lbs. Sasha is an outgoing, extroverted, playful girl who is frankly very cute about all of it - this little firecracker throws herself into every interaction with infectious enthusiasm and makes it very hard not to smile. Sasha appears overall healthy. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender. 9/2 UPDATE: Tested great against multiple partners! Friendly and engaging.
image.png image.png

Rox - Pittie/Lab mix, brown/white, male, 1-2y, 60lbs. Rox is just a happy, waggy, genuinely good boy who was excited to meet us without being overwhelming about it - enthusiastic but well-mannered. He also walks nicely on the leash and was just a lovely young dog. Rox appears overall healthy. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender. 9/9 UPDATE: Fab dog test! Curious and outgoing.

image.png image.png

Bella - Husky mix, gray/white, female, 1-3y, 55lbs. If you’ve ever wanted a husky without the high intensity, long coat, Bella might be your girl! Bella is a friendly, outgoing girl with a lot of personality and absolutely no hesitation about sharing it - including the occasional husky commentary, because of course! She has energy to spare and LOVES to play and explore. Bella appears overall healthy. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender from a family whose lifestyle wasn't quite keeping up with hers. 9/9 UPDATE: Great dog test - Bella was playful and outgoing with her partner.

image.png image.png

Charli – German Shepherd mix, black/tan, female, 4-6y, 60lbs. Charli is a calm, curious, thoroughly go-with-the-flow girl with a lovely accommodating temperament and great leash manners to match. A very chill, observant girl! She's currently underweight but eating well at the shelter and heading in the right direction. She also has a small umbilical hernia. Charli came to the shelter as a stray. 9/9 UPDATE: Wonderful dog test - Charli was a lovely, relaxed girl sharing gentle wags. Total dog testing star!

🐾✨COMMUNITY REQUESTS✨🐾

Poppy – Aussie doodle mix, gray/white/tan, female, 2-4y, 35-45lbs. Poppy is a total charmer! High energy and playful, loves bouncing around and enjoying the wind in her curls. Does well on the leash and has been working on off-leash recall with her current caretaker. Great with people, dogs, and cats! Reportedly housebroken! Being rehomed due to being too high energy for the caretaker's senior dog.
