Subject: Cary, NC - URGENT! Foster, Adoption, Rescue or Sanctuary needed for 4 Senior Pet Kitties - Family moving overseas on Monday 2/9
To: hudr...@gmail.com <hudr...@gmail.com>, Katie Hudson <kmbhu...@gmail.com>

CAT PEOPLE, THIS MUST BE RESOLVED AS SOON AND AS CAREFULLY AS POSSIBLEI've given Richard and Katie's email addresses, but I am also giving mine and would like to be included in any offers or any questions you may have.   I am personally satisfied with Katie's explanation as to how they got into this difficult dilemma and agree with their decision. See below.
Thank you, Cathy cate...@gmail.com

Cary, NC - extremely urgent due to time constriction
FOSTER OR RESCUE OR ADOPTION NEEDED - 4 SENIOR PET KITTIES (only 2 have to stay together). Richard, Katie, and their family are relocating overseas on Monday, 2/9.  (**Yes, they have been trying very hard to find great placement and ethically won't place their loved ones in a shelter. Please see Katie's full explanation below if you need to understand why they are in their current dilemma.)

**FROM KATIE: The family initially planned to bring their cats overseas and invested several thousand dollars in required rabies titers and urgent veterinary care. However, they became increasingly concerned about the physical and emotional toll, especially on their two most vulnerable senior cats, as the cats would be required to endure multiple days of flights routed the longer way around the world to reduce flight durations (legally required) and a minimum 10-day quarantine where they may be euthanized if acting sick or fractious, which understandably they may be acting as such after the stress of flights. In addition, the family must rent for at least a year upon arrival and was unable to secure housing that allows 4 cats. Faced with prohibitive costs exceeding $30,000 and significant welfare risks, they made the difficult decision to seek loving new homes for their cats rather than subject them to prolonged stress or uncertain outcomes. They have been trying very hard for the last 3 months to find a Sanctuary or Rescue for them.
Richard can be contacted at: hudr...@gmail.com, and Katie's email address is: kmbhu...@gmail.com

Richard, Katie and their family are moving to New Zealand from North Carolina on February 9th, just days from now.  They realize their 4 cats can't handle going through the ordeal of all the travel and lengthy quarantine protocols, and they have been trying very hard for awhile to find a Sanctuary or Rescue for them. What they really most need right now is an experienced Foster, as there is a tentative sanctuary placement opening in a month or two. But they must bridge the gap as they don't have a month.  They ethically will not place their cats in a shelter where they will just be killed, especially Cora, their elderly Special Needs kitty with Hyperthyroidism and elderly Sanchez who has IBS.

Please scroll down for info and photos for the 4 cats.

CORA - age 15, has hyperthyroidism (on methimazole) and prone to sporadic urinary crystals (on Royal Canin SO and calming diet to prevent issues). She weighs 6 pounds (was always tiny though), has a great appetite and mews loudly at mealtimes. She has 2 brothers who are not bonded with her, but with each other.  Her own best friend has been a yellow lab.  She gets along with kids and other cats, and is playful.  Cora was rescued as a tiny kitten from a storm drain in 2011 during tornado season.  She is declawed, spayed and her recent blood tests were balanced.

JEFFEREY (grey tabby), and GEORGE (tuxedo) are a totally bonded, absolutely inseparable pair of neutered male litter mates. They are 12 years old, and Richard's family took them in June 2014 when they were estimated to be 12 weeks old. Both have been microchipped and are current on rabies vaccines. They have always been in excellent health and are on Blue Buffalo Tastefuls Senior Diet food. Jefferey is a very interactive, playful cat that loves to be around people and is interested in anything you are doing. He loves playing fetch and being tussled around, and has always been considered to be a dog trapped in a cat’s body. George is shy and very cautious, but is 100% flight and not fight. Once you gain his trust, you will have it for life. He is a bit derpy and slue-footed, which makes him even cuter. These guys are inseparable and have always laid, slept, sparred, and followed each other around everywhere.

SANCHEZ (tuxedo) is 16 years old, weighs about 14lbs, is neutered, chipped, and is current on rabies. He has IBS and is on Royal Canin, a special hydrolyzed protein diet.  He was the family's first cat and was brought to the vet after he was found by somebody along a roadside tamale stand in Wake Forest NC at 5 weeks.

FROM RICHARD: "This guy ran through his 9 lives, but we are convinced he has 900 lives. He has always been (or tried to be) the number one ruler alpha male king of the throne top boss of the household and would let all the other cats know when they were out of line. Even though he came across as the pack leader, he has always been a sucker for a nice warm lap to sit and lay in. Throughout the years, he has had a few dental cleanings and extractions as most cats do; his last dental was just a few months ago. He has also recently, within the past few years, developed inflammatory bowel disease, which now requires him to be on a special hydrolyzed protein diet from royal canin. Due to this, it has made his coat appear a bit scruffy and patchy, and his eyes can be goopy at times. We keep him cleaned up as best as we can and he just keeps on lumbering around the house, always looking for that perfect lap to sit in."
