* Sweet Senior Lab Mix ‘Rally’ Needs a Soft Place to Land @ Columbia Animal Services (SC)*

To Our Rescue Partners,

Rally (A309629) is a 7-year-old, 92 lb neutered male who arrived as a stray looking like life hasn’t been especially kind to him. Despite that, Rally has been nothing but friendly with the people he’s met, walks beautifully on leash, happily works for treats, and has that sweet, easygoing Lab-like personality. He has not yet had a formal dog assessment, but he has presented as people and dog friendly during his interactions and movement throughout the shelter.

Rally came to us needing some TLC. He has a removable growth on his right cheek, several soft, movable lumps on his body, worn teeth, irritated eyes and ears, and skin irritation with hair loss along his back end. He is currently being treated for a yeast ear infection, eye inflammation and a likely flea-related skin infection. Our veterinarian believes the facial growth can be surgically removed, but would prefer to wait until Rally has committed placement before putting him under anesthesia. He is also heartworm positive and has already begun the recommended pretreatment protocol. CAS will sponsor his heartworm treatment at no cost to the receiving rescue.

At seven years old, Rally should be settling into the comfortable part of life, not starting over injured and homeless in a crowded shelter. Underneath the bumps, scabs and signs of neglect is a genuinely sweet boy who still has plenty of love to give. We would love to help Rally find the rescue placement he needs to start a healthier, happier chapter.

If you can't rescue, share! This message only has to reach 1 right person to save a life.
