Best regards,Volkan Isler=======================11th International Workshop on the Algorithmic Foundations of Robotics(WAFR)August 3-5, 2014Bogazici UniversityIstanbul, TurkeyAIM And SCOPEThe International Workshop on the Algorithmic Foundations of Robotics(WAFR) is a single-track workshop devoted to recent advances onalgorithmic problems in robotics. The workshop proceedings will bepublished in a hardcover volume in the Springer STAR series, andselected papers will be invited for publication in a special issue of theInternational Journal of Robotics Research.Robot algorithms are a fundamental component of robotic systems. Thesealgorithms process inputs from sensors that provide noisy and partialdata, build geometric and physical models of the world, plan high-andlow-level actions at different time horizons, and execute theseactions on actuators with limited precision. The design and analysisof robot algorithms raise a unique combination of questions from manyfields, including control theory, computational geometry and topology, geometrical and physical modeling, reasoning under uncertainty, probabilistic algorithms, game theory, and theoretical computerscience.TOPICSThe focus of WAFR is on the design and analysis of robot algorithmsfrom both theoretical and practical angles. The topics of interest arevery broad. We encourage papers on fundamental algorithmic issues, such as complexity, completeness, machine learning, probabilisticreasoning, and new programming paradigms, to name a few. We alsoencourage papers on applications of robot algorithms to important ornew domains, such as manufacturing, legged locomotion, distributedrobotics, human-robot interaction, surgical robots, intelligentprosthetics, and brain-controlled robots. Furthermore, robotalgorithms are being applied in domains beyond the traditional scopeof robotics, e.g., computational biology, computer animation, sensornetworks, etc. Papers on these topics are also welcomed.WAFR 2014 will place strong emphasis on interactions anddiscussions among participants.IMPORTANT DATES* Paper submission deadline March 17, 2014* Notification of acceptance May 12, 2014* WAFR: August 3-5, 2014* Final Manuscript September 1, 2014We look forward to seeing you in Istanbul!WAFR Co-Organizers:Levent Akin, Nancy Amato, Volkan Isler and Frank van der Stappen--I.
