Dear TC Members,

I hope you are all doing well. Most of you must be working on ICRA papers, and also busy with a new semester kick-off. Best of luck in both endeavors.

Please have a look at the request below from Satoshi Tadokoro, RAS VP for Technical Activities. I would like to use his request as an opportunity to discuss an issue and a possible solution.

Even though we are one of the largest and most active technical committees, this strength is often not properly showcased.  As an example, to demonstrate the reason, when we send out a request for materials for a poster like the one below, we get very few (if any) responses. Then it becomes an overwhelming task to gather information from the web that reflects the ongoing research out TC members are involved in.

As a possible solution, I would like to create an executive committee for our TC. This committee should be composed of active members of our committee who are willing to
(1) discuss and undertake TC related activities, and (2) provide materials and help for posters, websites etc.

Down the road, we will find ways to formally recognize the contributions of this committee. At the very least, being an active member of this committee should be a great way to publicize your work and network with others. I must however emphasize the word **active** here.

So if you are interested in being a part of this committee, please send me a note (if you could simply reply to this message, it would be easier for me to keep track of things). I look forward to hearing from you.

With my best regards,
Volkan Isler

Dear TC Co-Chairs

I would like to invite you to show your TC poster and TC slide at IROS
2013.

At ICRA 2013 we had so many visitors to the posters, and the
participants had a good opportunity to know what are happening in the
TCs.  Many people would have been interested in your activities, and
some have contacted you to join your TC.  Therefore, I would like to
continue this advertisement at every ICRA and IROS.  If the conference
site has enough space, I would like to extend it to CASE.

Attached are the template.  Please submit the poster and the slide to me
before October 15.  I will print and send them to the conference site.

As I have to travel to US and Europe before IROS, I would not have
enough time for printing.  Please note that it would not be displayed,
if your poster and slide arrive after October 15.

If you would like to use the same poster and slide as ICRA 2013, please
let me know.  You need not send the same manuscript again in this case.

I have reserved one of the best places at the conference site of IROS, where
every participants enjoy coffee break.  Please consider to use this best
opportunity for your TC.

Best regards.

Satoshi
