Dear TC members,

I would like to welcome our new co-chairs who will be joining me and
introduce them to our TC members. Please find their brief bios below.

If you have any ideas for new activities, please feel free to contact
either one of us.

Sincerely,
Volkan Isler

Brian M. Sadler is a Fellow of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), and a
Fellow of the IEEE. He is currently a guest editor for an International
Journal of Robotics Research special issue on networked robotics, and an
associate editor for EURASIP Signal Processing. He was an associate
editor for the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and IEEE Signal
Processing Letters, and has been a guest editor for several journals
including IEEE JSTSP, IEEE JSAC, and the IEEE SP Magazine. He is a
member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Sensor Array and
Multi-channel Technical Committee. He received Best Paper Awards from
the Signal Processing Society in 2006 and 2010. He has received several
ARL and Army R&D awards, as well as a 2008 Outstanding Invention of the
Year Award from the University of Maryland. His research interests
include autonomous collaborative systems, networking, sensing, and
information science.

Shuichi Nishio received his M. Sc. in computer science from Kyoto
University in 1994, D. Eng from Osaka University in 2010 and is
currently a Senior Researcher at the Advanced Telecommunications
Research Institute International (ATR) in Kyoto, Japan.

Dr. LIBOR PŘEUČIL (*1961, Prague) obtained his MEE in Control
Engineering - Robotics in 1985, Ph.D. in Computer Vision and Medical
Image Processing in 1993 both from the Czech Technical University in
Prague (CTU). Currently, he is Assistant Professor in Robotics and AI at
the Department of Cybernetics, CTU Prague.
In 1991-92 he spent a one-year sabbatical at the Department of Applied
Mathematics, Technical University, Munich, Germany and in 1996 he stayed
with the France Telecom University, Dept. of Computer Science working on
topics related to embedded intelligent robotic and sensor systems.
Since 1993 he founded and later become Managing Researcher at the
Gerstner Laboratory, CTU Prague (http://imr.felk.cvut.cz). He is a
senior research fellow being involved in, or lead many projects within
the European framework of the TEMPUS, INCO Copernicus and successfully
coordinated a 5thFP IST 2001 - FET project on Building Presence thru
Localization for Hybrid Telematic Entities (FET-IST2001-38873) as well
he is being involved in research granted by the Czech Grant Agency,
University Development Fund as well as multiple industrial contracts,
etc. He acted as the Czech representative and coordinator of the 6FP
European Robotic Network of Excellence (EURON2). His current involvement
in FP7 programme incorporates participation in 2 IP projects on
evolutionary robotics and bio-inspired robotics entitled Symbrion and
Replicator. (2008-2013) as well as in the COLOS project within AMVIS
program framework (UPENN/Grasp Lab) targeting advanced cooperation of
aerial vehicles.
Currently his research interest covers the area of intelligent robotics:
control of self-guided autonomous vehicles, uncertain sensory
information processing and sensor fusion technology. The upcoming topics
of his interest involve multi-robot systems, hybrid human-robot issues,
and related topics in UAV and UGV domain. The other branch of his
expertise is posed into design and development of methodologies for
robust communications, software design and testing, with applications in
transport applications. This field also covers investigation of methods
and tools for on-line diagnostic and highly distributed control SW
design for safety-critical applications.
He is an author or co-author of more than 150 publications in
proceedings of international conferences, journal papers and co-author
of three textbooks on AI and 4 edited books published by
Springer-Verlag. Besides that he is an active member of the IFAC
Workgroup for Autonomous Vehicles, member of programme committees of
relevant conferences (ECMR, ICINCO, etc.).
