'The Moodleman', the 'MARVIN boys', the 'Queen of online communities' and an anthropologist are the keynote speakers at the free national online conference e-learning a Realit-e.
Registrations are now open for the online conference, hosted by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework), being held on 8 - 10 June 2011.
The conference will showcase e-learning and e-technology through a series of web-conferencing presentations and lunch-time EXPO sessions.
Keynote speakers include:
Julian Ridden - aka the
Moodleman
(Day 1)
A former school IT knowledge services manager, Julian has more than a
decade of e-learning experience. Julian currently works for
Moodle.com.au, specialising in web design, network planning, professional development, technology integration, web 2.0, mobile technologies and, of course, Moodle design and
development.
Flexible Learning Advisory Group (Day 1)
The Flexible Learning Advisory Group (FLAG) is an advisory group of the National Senior Officials Committee (NSOC)
and manages the Framework. Representatives from FLAG will be looking at the journey of
the Framework from its inception in 2000 to the present day.
J Easterby-Wood and Nathaniel Peek
(Day 1)
J is one of the world's foremost authorities on the use of avatar based
technologies within education and instructional environments. With
support from the Framework's
LearnScope and Flexible Learning Leaders projects, he further developed the character-based animation, known as
MARVIN, which has revolutionised the way messages are delivered to remote
communities. J is now the CEO of NTICED, one of Australia's most awarded software development companies. Nathaniel has been working in the multimedia field for more than a
decade. After moving to the central Australian desert and meeting J, he
started working on interactive communication and development of
Indigenous-based resources using MARVIN. The pair now work on the universal avatar system Mishme.
Nancy White
(Day 2)
Recognised for her leadership and expertise in online group facilitation, Nancy is an international presenter and a keen explorer of some of the latest
e-learning technologies. In 1997, she set up Full Circle Associates in the USA, which aims to connect people with ideas, information, services and peers.
Dr Genevieve Bell (Day 3)
An anthropologist and the Director of User Experience within Intel's
Digital Home Group, Dr Bell was an Adelaide 'Thinker in Residence'
focusing on identifying a set of strategic directions and opportunities for all South Australians with
regard to digital technologies.
