Hi all!
I hope this finds you well. We had a great call last week for the monthly Collaborative Networks Community of Practice (despite some technical difficulties), and thanks again to Michael Bischoff of the Social Innovation Lab/Clarity Facilitation and Twin Cities colleagues Kristin Johnstad, Janne Flisrand, Christine Capra, and David Quimby for sharing their network mapping project with community leaders in the Upper Midwest (www.socialinnovationlab.net/map).
I’ve attached notes for your review, and welcome all to our next call on June 25th at 9:30 AM PT. A few things to note as we head toward our next monthly call:
· I have invited all of you to a Collaborative Networks GoogleGroup and Google Calendar. Everyone (if you elect to join) can post to both of these with resources, questions, opportunities and events (the latter most appropriate for the calendar but also announced via the group). Please be in touch if you have challenges joining/using.
· We made a decision to alternate months between a profile of a project or practice and a theme related to collaborative networks. The profile will feature an individual or group discussing a particular element of their work (as we did last week with the Social Innovation Lab mapping project), the theme will focus on a particular topic and use a “pop-up panel” approach—two or three people sharing a snapshot of their approach, challenge, or question related to the theme to spark discussion. We will also regularly start with introductions and some highlights and challenges from those on the call.
· Our June 25th theme will focus on “Building Network Culture” (this may be part one of what could easily be a multi-call conversation!). If you have a practice, challenge, story, or tool related to building network culture that you’d like to share, please let me know and we can have you as part of the pop-up panel (nothing formal, just a couple of minutes). Ideas and nominations for profiles and other themes always welcome!
· We also talked about having rotating facilitation and other roles for each of these calls. I am happy to facilitate again, but would love volunteers to (1) take notes (2) track and capture relevant chat log info and (3) copilot the call by “driving” AnyMeeting…or whatever platform we determine is best
· I will be extending an invitation to those people who you recommended as potential participants in this community. Feel free to recommend others here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvbFIPDTWNVDdFp5RFRndmxYYjF5Y2ZnVGc1RWtvYkE&usp=drive_web#gid=0
· I will be creating/adapting a GoogleDrive folder where the attached notes and other documents will be posted shortly. Stay tuned!
· We’ll be working on mapping this group so we can learn more about each other’s interests and connections (I believe Jeff has offered Kumu for this project which Ken, Derrick, and Kristin have expressed an interest in pulling together)
· Regional gatherings are also starting up/encouraged as a part of this learning community—look for an invite from me via the listserve for a Bay Area gathering this summer, and I know there is a critical mass in the Twin Cities as well. Contact me if you want to be connected to folks in your region (and our mapping exercise will help reveal this as well).
· From this point forward, I’d really like to move this conversation to the listserve, so please join the GoogleGroup if you are interested in staying connected with this group. If you are part of the “Network Weavers Practicum” list and would like to receive regular updates about this community of practice, I will keep sending messages to the original list for some time, but would like to move all over to one list this summer.
Please let me know if you have ideas or questions related to this growing community of practice! (And you can still offer comments on the original proposal framing this community of practice idea. We’ll continue to integrate ideas beyond the monthly calls as we move forward.)
Best to all,
Odin
