A meeting of members of Mohali Industries Association was held to discuss the imposition of Property Tax by the Punjab Government.
Most of the members expressed their opinion that the tax is too much. The Industry is passing through a bad phase and the industrialists should not deposit this tax.and also to discus the matter in the EC meeting which is scheduled to be held on 30..11.13. Members also suggested that MIA should hold a protest.
After discussion it was decided that Mohali Industries Association will request its members not to pay the tax by 30th November,. 2013.
Further the decision on amount of tax to be paid will be discussed with other Associations of Punjab for which a meeting will be called soon.
It was also decided to take legal opinion whether MIA as an Association or every individual member should take up the matter in the court.
It was also decided to write to the Government of Punjab to consider revision of rate of property tax on the industry.
The following suggestions to be put up to the Government:
a) Rented property should be exempted from tax.
b) A single slab rate for property tax for all.
