Device Activation (Telecom)

Description
- We are seeking an
accomplished and highly experienced Development Architect to lead the
design, development, and evolution of our critical device activation
platforms within the Telecom domain.
- This role is central to
ensuring seamless and efficient activation of cable modems and other
DOCSIS/SONU devices, directly impacting our customer experience and
operational efficiency.
- The ideal candidate will
possess a deep understanding of telecommunications protocols, device
lifecycle management, and a proven track record in architecting scalable
and resilient solutions leveraging modern cloud-native technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Architectural
Leadership: Lead the end-to-end architectural design and technical roadmap
for device activation applications, specifically focusing on cable modems
and DOCSIS/SONU devices.
- Solution Design &
Development: Design and oversee the development of highly scalable,
fault-tolerant, and performant solutions for device activation,
provisioning, and lifecycle management. This includes defining technical
specifications, data models, and API contracts.
- Responsible for
application support, including issue triage, root cause analysis, and
resolution to ensure system stability and performance.
- Cloud-Native Expertise:
Drive the adoption and optimization of AWS services and Kubernetes for
deploying, managing, and scaling device activation applications. Ensure
solutions are cloud-agnostic where appropriate and leverage best practices
for cloud security and cost optimization.
- Troubleshooting &
Root Cause Analysis: Act as a subject matter expert in troubleshooting
complex technical issues related to device activation, connectivity, and
application performance. Utilize Splunk logs and other monitoring tools
extensively for in-depth analysis and root cause identification.
- System Performance &
Monitoring: Establish robust monitoring strategies using Splunk and other
tools to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, system
anomalies, and potential outages within the device activation ecosystem.
- ACS Adapter Integration:
Provide expert-level guidance and hands-on experience with ACS Adapter
integration, ensuring seamless communication and control of devices.
- DOCSIS/SONU Domain
Expertise: Apply in-depth knowledge of DOCSIS and SONU standards and
protocols to architect and troubleshoot device activation flows,
addressing specific challenges related to these technologies.
- Cross-Functional
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, engineering
teams, operations, and external vendors to translate business requirements
into technical solutions and ensure successful implementation and
deployment.
- Technical Mentorship
& Governance: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to
development teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and best
practices. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and establish
architectural governance processes.
- 10+ years of progressive
experience in software development and architecture roles, with a
significant focus on high-volume, mission-critical applications.
- 5+ years of experience
specifically within the Telecom domain, with a strong understanding of
device activation, provisioning, and network operations.
- Expert-level proficiency
in AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, SQS,
SNS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and relevant networking concepts.
- Extensive experience
with Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, management, and
troubleshooting of containerized applications in production environments.
- In-depth experience with
Splunk logs and monitoring solutions, including query development,
dashboard creation, and alert configuration for proactive issue detection
and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise
with ACS Adapter technologies and their application in device management
and activation.
- Profound understanding
of DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) and SONU
(Service Over Next-generation Passive Optical Network Units) standards and
device functionalities.
- Exceptional application
understanding and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly
diagnose and resolve complex technical problems across distributed
systems.
- Strong programming
skills in at least one relevant language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js).
- Experience with API
design (RESTful, GraphQL) and microservices architecture.
- Excellent communication,
interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate
complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to work
independently and as part of a highly collaborative team in a fast-paced,
dynamic environment
