How would I extract articles form the .ITM file in c:\dnews\spool\db_1_.itm
with a method other then NNTP or with an API other then
a mail client?

Set up a outgoing feed for the items you want to extract in
newsfeeds.conf.
You then have the choice of using a uucp feed or a program feed or if
you
really want to access the articles directly from the bucket files you
can
do it in the way Chris describes below...

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Create a feed entry like this:
site xxx
groups *
And then write a program to read 'xxx.feed' or 'xxx.send' files
which list each new item, and gives the
offset into the bucket and item length so you can read direct from teh
.itm files, this method is not gauranteed to
work with future versiosn of dnews :-)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Brian
