Hi,

I'm new to Netty and really like it so far. But I want to do an experiment and don't where to start looking.

I have netty listening to incoming HTTP request but I don't want it to reply to the connection.
Basically I would like to get the incoming HTTP connection process some values and send the data to a different server via TCP socket and then that server will reply to the client.

Something like a load balancer/proxy. Has anyone done this or can help?

Thanks,

Norman Maurer

I think you should start by looking at the hexdumpproxy example:

You should also take a look at Little Proxy, https://github.com/adamfisk/LittleProxy, if you're trying to build an HTTP aware load balancer/proxy.

Speaking of proxies, Norman have you looked into providing built-in support for proxies with Netty? Something similar to Event Machine's proxy_incoming_to (http://eventmachine.rubyforge.org/EventMachine/Connection.html#proxy_incoming_to-instance_method).
