How to get projection from a .prj

Im reading geometries from a shapefile with NTS and that works well, but I also need to read the projection from the shapefile (the .prj file if it exists). Anyone know how to do that?

you can try to read the WKT code inside prj file with http://projnet.codeplex.com or http://dotspatial.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=DotSpatial.Projections
