Hi,

A suggestion for an extension to Thunderbird's message filters -- play a
sound (.wav) to be added to the 'perform these actions' list. This would
allow users to set a specific sound for email received from a friend or
group of friends, from their boss or work colleagues, from newsgroups and
mailing lists, and from their girlfriend (or potential girlfriends). Sounds
for specific subject lines would also be handled.

It seems to me this would be a fairly easy extension to develop since the
message filter tools already exists and the extension would just add a
'play this sound' feature to 'perform these actions'.

Regards,

..matthew

Sounds pretty cool to me. I can already think of several sounds to use
on my filters! (eg. A toilet flush sound when SPAM is axed.)

Exactly. 'Bad Guy Dramatic Opera' for your boss, Bugs Bunny 'what's up doc'
from one of your kids, Clint's 'Do you feel lucky, punk' for your broker.
Etc. Etc.

You could even leave it on and loud so you're alerted to an important email
arrival even if in another room. On this tack maybe a 'launch this program
with these arguments' should also be added to 'perform these actions'.

I'm pretty sure there's already bugs for this in bugzilla...
