Hi -

This wish would take someone all of five minutes to implement, if that.
I just want to be able to append a message (email or news) to a file.
This would be very useful. Like "Save As" only "Append To"

I'm shocked that it's not already in there. Am I the only person who
reads news, sees something interesting and wants to add it to a
"programming tricks" file, or somesuch? Or append a bunch of email
letters to a file?

no you're not the only one;
i would love somthing as such; what i think we should really get is a
filling system for snipits/webpages/messages/news.
basicly a database(for lack of a better word) of some sort that would have
all this stuff in a file which is redable in either notepad or a prog in
mozilla in which case the user sees the info layed out in a nice UI

this info about each Snipit would be
..
if web page:
URL(if web page)
Date
Title
if msg
sender
time sent
time received
receiver
Subject
.....................
This can obviously be done in XML and displayed in a specificly made mozilla
Page!

man i'de love to have something like that!

That would be a *lot* more complicated than the "append" suggestion.
"Append to file" would just require that the file be opened for
appending rather than writing...it's a simple flag in the standard
"open" function. Implementing an XML database would be a whole lot of work.

Sounds like a good idea indeed, and I've filed bug 134526 for it, see:

In the Save As dialog, it would be nice to have a checkbox
[ ] Append to file

If unchecked, it would overwrite an existing file, if checked,
it would append to it.

That would be a cool new feature that probably be only
5 minutes to implement.

No, you're not the only one. But the software I use does that stuff.

Mozilla is a great browser. It's the Mail/News stuff that needs a lot
of work.
