This has definitely got to be a bug.
I have configured Gmail IMAP, one POP account and 3 newsgroup server
accounts in Seamonkey so far. When I try to add an account- it assumes I
want to add a newsgroup account and just asks for name and server name-
it does not show me the first page where I could choose from
Email/News/RSS setup.
What's more- this does not add a new account- it just changes the
settings of the last account that's there.

Anyone else seen this?

No, since I migrated my profile, I've added two newsgroup accounts with
no issue at all.

But i have, when a newsserver was automatically added by clicking on a
link. It was <http://enigmail.mozdev.org/support/newsgroup.php>.

The culprit was a line in the prefs.js:
user_pref("mail.server.server8.valid", false);

Okay, the two groups I added were direct, via Account Settings.

Not with out a link :-)

I had issues with new.mozdev.org as well (public.mozdev.prefbar). But I
think it was a case of me messing up the 'mozdev' username. Can't recall
exactly what I did to fix it, but it seems to be working just fine now.

This was a bug in 2.0RC1 but was fixed, or should have been before the
final release.

If you do Help->About you should see the about: page and the build
identifier which should be something like:

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1;
rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091021 Lightning/1.0pre SeaMonkey/2.0.1pre

On your screen what is the eight digit number after Gecko/ ?

On mine it says :
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4)
Gecko/20091017 Lightning/1.0pre SeaMonkey/2.0

Is it the right version? 'Check for updates' tells me my installation is
up to date.

Sorry- the above is me. I overwrote my account name while changing
server settings.

Can someone help here? I can't configure any more accounts and it's
really frustrating :(
I'm using a fresh profile, i.e. I never used version 1.x so didn't have
to migrate anything.

Did you searche the prefs.js for user_pref("mail.server.server8.valid",
false);? The number behind server will probably be different.

Thanks, that worked. Shouldn't this be reported as a bug?
